Well, JBL OEM packs are not sold in the aftermarket. And OEM packs are without grilles.

Updating post #381, since @Razor commented on my ever inflating ICE expenditure in the DIY thread. I started with a ceiling of 15K in August 2007. It's hit 2.5 times in around 4 months.

Changes are in italics.

What is your existing setup (HEADUNITS, SPEAKERS, AMPS, DSP,SW etc.)

HU : Pio 4950 Rs. 5500
Front : Illusion Electra 62 6.5" coax Rs. 3990
Rear : Illusion Electra 62 6.5" coax Rs. 3990
Amp : JBL GTO 75.4 Rs. 11000
Phoenix Gold RCAs : 1200
Amp / Speaker Wiring & Install : 1500

Sub : Ground Zero GZTW12MK2 Rs. 5490
Illusion Reference speaker wire (Sub and rewired fronts) : Rs. 2100
Ichibahn Fuseholder + fuse: Rs. 450
Noisekill damping: Rs. 2250

3. How much did it cost?

27.xxk ---> approx 37K

4.How serious were your about your system?

Moderately serious.

5. Which kind of music do you listen to?

Soft rock

6. would you recommend it to others?

Yes!

7. Place where the setup was done

Pio, 75.4, Install - Glix, Kolkata.
Rewiring, Sub, Fuse and Damping - DIY
Illusion, GZ, Fuse, Damping from Hermit Audio, Mumbai.

Quick?! It was way more than my budgeted time. Newbie estimates you see. Update here.

Well I'll try to explain with my limited understanding of audio technical jargon. There are 2 main areas I found a difference, at 2 different stages.

A) After connecting the sub and rewiring, more than the increased definition of the thump, what struck me was how lovely the bass guitars sounded. (Wild Wood - Paul Weller, Road Trippin' - Red Hot Chilli Peppers)

B) The next day, even after my amateur damping effort on the front doors, the sound became incredibly 'full' .. sort of has a lot of depth. The front Illusions sound soooo wonderful now. Mark Knopfler sounds wow! Wondering what I'll do with the rears, since they are not even playing at any significant volume.

Yes, though sometimes feel I could have bought better speakers for the money I spent...

Guess, what I'd want for the money is a bit more warmth without sacrificing any detail...

Default Finally!!!

1. what is your existing setup (HEADUNITS, SPEAKERS, AMPS, DSP,SW etc.)
HU: Pioneer DEH-P6050UB
Front Components: Illusion EL 6.1

2. How much did it cost ?
Roughly 16.5K everything included.

3.How serious were your about your system?
Not as serious as other people here, but needed a good sounding system, along with a HU with a good display (i.e. capable of displaying Songname + Artist + Album when playing mp3s off USB).

4. which kind of music do you listen to ?? prefer deep bass or how is it...
All sorts of stuff, but predominantly Metal.

5. would you recommend it to others???
Would definitely recommend the speakers. Have only heard them for a day now, but kickass!!! I don't even know whether I would feel the need for an amp + sub (but then what is Team-BHP for? ).
The HU is basically the newer version of the tried and tested 7950, so can't really go very wrong with it. I would recommend however waiting a few weeks for the grey price to stabilize to avoid paying much more than you should (like me).

Thanks, they do!

The breakup is:
6.5K for Illusion EL 6.1
9.35K for Pioneer 6050UB (Grey)
Rest for installation, wires, harnesses etc.

I got it installed at Driven in East of Kailash.

p.s. Did anyone notice hell freeze over?

@FB, congrats on the upgrade! So I guess you managed to find a new home for your X-Types huh? How do the Milles sound with the Genesis Amp? Review, please!

@vebmetal, finally, huh? Congrats! You got good stuff, and it is good you got a proper system done (rather than direct MP3-player-to-amp-setup).
