| If not anything else, my purse sure blew off. So it has been said, 'thou shall go bankrupt', and I just realized it today. I had been searching the ICE forums for ages, since the day I had been dreaming of buying a new car. Read everything from everyone. The Gurus here are just amazing with so much in depth knowledge on this subject that it leaves me in awe. And it left me utterly confused and lost in the woods as well. So it all begins again, the new car and the new soul chilling melodies, I am in love again. Ok Ok so I did fall in love 'again' when I bought my Blu-T, but now it's the Bollywood type sequel of singing around the trees with/in my Blu-T. For the people with flying imaginations, please stay seated while the entire show unfolds. I may not be a millionaire and neither am I an expert on all things 'ICE'. I am but a normal guy who loves his music and likes getting his hair stand with the beats playing. I kind of wanted a close to disco feel, however I was on a budget. So I had started on a 'let's get robbed in stages' process. Decided to go for the ICE install in stages. Stage 1: Speakers, wiring, damping and I have an old Sony amp and a Pio woofer, so wanted that fitted just as well. Stage 2[yet to happen]: Mono-block amp, a nice woofer and a nice 4 ch amp. Stage 3[yet to happen]: A double din head unit. Here's the story of stage 1:- After having searched the forums far and wide. I got lost in the woods, fought with the bank robbing spiders, saw the angels flying with super ICE systems for wings, looked at the Gods giving advise to mere mortals and found confused souls like myself. I happened to hit a jackpot reference to Motor Concepts in Kirti Nagar, little did I know that this place will be my adobe and a heaven sent flying workshop for a lost dude like me. I first went there to have a word with Aman. I must say, what a jolly good guy he is. Very polite, immensely knowledgeable, helpful, modest and willing to listen to you and your budget and all the bla bla that folks like me manage to throw at him, so that makes him patient too. After the first visit I got the seat covers done for my Blu-T and told him about my ICE plan. So today I fixed up an appointment with him and reached there at 2:30pm. Spoke to him and told him how I was planning to go about with my set-up, the 3 stage upgrade. Last I had spoken with him he had suggested Bull Audio to me based on my music taste and my limited budget. However I was a little more adventurous and experimental today. He suggested that if I was planning on doing it in stages, I might as well up the ante and do it with better equipment so that I don't have the need to upgrade stuff the next time I went to him. I agreed and I am glad I did. So the suggestions came out, basis my music choice and ground to pound I was deciding between Hertz, Rainbow & Digital Design. Well that helps, at-least now I have only 3 things to pick from. I hadn't a clue and out he came to my rescue again with the suggestion of Hertz Energy Components & Coaxial as the best VFM choice, I had to agree. The Rainbows were a good 3K more and that would have been stretching it a too much. Now starts the issue, I wanted the head unit to remain and the stock look. 2 reasons: 1) I love the look of the new OE HU of the new Swift & 2) I didn't have the budget for a HU. Aman to the rescue again, he suggested Audison Conection SLI 4 to take care of my woes of not having any pre-outs in the Nippon OE HU. And I thank him and my stars that the Amp and woofer I had with me, according to him would work out just fine and that we can change them in my next stage. So that was it and the deal was done and off he went to get his men into the machine and work on it. And I must say, he along with his staff are experts at this. Superior service, excellent install, proper care taken not to mess anything. The whole episode lasted a good 4 1/2 hours and then the ground started shaking with the beats. And that was it, when I sat inside the Blu-T, my life was suddenly transformed, with the stage 1 of install he managed to put such excellence in the set-up that I was left dumbfounded and yes 'The hair was standing all over my head and arms'. True Nirvana and just what I wanted. he did the final tuning and gain settings on the amp and off i was driving and rocking my world all the way back to my home. So that is the story and before some of you start yawning, I will stop here and get into the main show. The equipment list and the photo ops. Please do pardon my photography skills as I am a noob in this department as well and I used my SG2 to click the pics. Equipment:- HU - OE Nippon HU that comes with the new Swift Coaxial - Hertz Energy ESX 165 140W Component - Hertz Energy ESK 165 200W SLI - Audison Conection SLI 4 to create 2 pre-outs Wiring - Scosche E400M Custom made sub woofer sealed enclosure Damping - 6 sheets in the front 2 doors [I don't remember the brand name, it was an imported VFM product, none of the stinger or the other known names] Spacers, RC Lead, Speaker wires, and the usual suspects like in every game. And now the install pics: Now someone tell me who would call these speakers. Ladies and gentle men have a look at the OE speakers that I got in the Swift Zdi ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Hertz Energy Party Rockers and the Remaining Install pics Last edited by iFuel : 12th February 2012 at 00:12. |

| And the last set. But first a special mention to the excellent fusing of wire joins and endings with this special sleeve. It was uploaded in previous pics, but in case u missed it here they are. ![]() ![]() ![]() And the remaining set. After this install everything was back to the stock look inside the car, minus the amp and the woofer, understandably. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A BIG shout out to Aman of Motor Concepts and his staff, I am in no way affiliated to them, I am just a customer and a very happy customer at that. They are highly professional and patient. The best thing is that they are always willing to help and Aman has immense knowledge in this field and is one of the best I have come across. | Senior - BHPian | With no knowledge of most of the stuff being done to the car, i am blown away by the sheer number of parts that have gone into this setup. I am sure it sounds as good as it looks on the photographs. Whats the glass tube thingy?, looks like something to do with power. Another newbie question, how much did the whole thing cost? |

| iFuel, Great setup there! I'd like to ask you the cost and also how it sounds ? I'm sorry if i've missed it, but i don't think you mentioned how the entire setup sounds. I'm also looking to upgrade the stone age HU on my Polo and looking to do it in 2 stages. Your thread couldn't have come at a better time! |

| Hi iFuel, I also took the plunge to ice my Zdi about a month back & got the install done at motor concepts under the supervision of aman. My equipment list: - JVC avx814 double din ( from my old car) - Polk db6501 comps & polk co-axials - Bull Audio sub in sealed box ( from my old car) - Bull Audio amp. - Audison wiring & RCA's - Lots of damping ( 6 sheets for front 2 doors only & around 5 - 6 for the other 3 doors) Now, i am also very impressed with the professionalism & expertise of these guys & attention to minute details like using abundant sleeves over joints . They took a lot of time just for damping all the doors & i one can feel the difference this has made. Apart from the sound factor, the doors close with a heavy thud that is very new to a maruti. Aman is a nice sensible guy with a good knowledge of what he does & recommends after hearing you out about your budget & music taste. I went there at 11am & returned from there at around 5pm as the install is a long process esp. damping if it is done correctly. I preferred polk over rainbows as they have a slight edge over the vocals & treble feels a bit more airy than rainbows ( this is what i felt), I had bull comps in my previous car & are of a similar sound signature as rainbows. Also the bull amp is good value for money amp with adequate punch. Also, aman arranged for a dash kit for the JVC head unit , which is of the exact same color as the dash & the dash with HU looks just oem. The system is tuned by aman with flat eq settings & is therefore flexible enough to play around a little bit. The steering controls cannot be used now, but aman has a wiring kit from JVC which is compatible to use the steering mounted contols & i will try it in future when the pocket permits me ( all drained now). Sorry to hijack your thread iFuel bhai , but seeing your posts & pics. i could not resist sharing my views. Take Care. Last edited by piyush78 : 16th February 2012 at 08:29. |

| I would also like to know the cost of the setup as I am thinking of getting it done for my Manza. It would be better if you can simply post the cost breakup in the thread itself instead of PMing people. This will save you the hassle of mailing to everyone who asks for it ![]() |

| BHPian | The setup looks great. Where did you put the Connection thing, the high level speaker adapter for the amp? Inside the doors? Yeah, the pricing would be really useful for us. Would love to know the cost of the damping as well. And what brand is it? |

I was a bit concerned about loosing my steering controls if I got the head unit replaced, now that you mention about the special wiring available, it has given me peace of mind. So the JVC unit yoiu installed, is that a touch screen or the other double din unit. I have seen the JVC unit in a friends car which is the normal one and it really goes well with the interiors of his new swift Vdi. And I second the fact that damping has done wonders to the way the door feels and closes now. Never thought it could make that much of a difference to the feel of the doors. Quote:
