Gunbir I would like to know
...how you rectified the dash
...what did you do with the modified rear deck
...what were the earlier speakers in the old rear deck doing? were they subs?

The old setup really confuses me. Is the rear deck bsing used at all. My fear is that the air moved by the 21" woofer would make the rear deck bounce and dance.

BTW good to see you left room for a small golf bag.

Hey navin, the dash is still original, the earlier dsp unit was put in place of the ashtray which is now back in place. The rear deck is not being used at all. It earlier had one of those pioneer speakers the 7inch round ones.

21 INCH WOOFER ... MAn that thing is soooo HUGE!! ..

JEez.... have you modified the car to give the passengers FIVE POINT harnesses too??.. lest they get BLOWN away??

And Gunbir... How have you gone about the considerable Damping you might have had to provide... as in the material ... and the quantities!!

Well Arush answered this, but here goes...

...how you rectified the dash - We put the ashtray back in, had the OE DIN pocket, put it back in.

...what did you do with the modified rear deck - Removed it... The owner would have to buy a new one if he ever decides to quit showing off . The old one was ruined.

...what were the earlier speakers in the old rear deck doing? were they subs? - They were those 8" Pioneer 2095 speakers

...The old setup really confuses me - Well lets just say it was a mess and leave it at that lol.

Well the Octavia's a solid car. We used decent quantities of wurth, fonomat and fonogel in different locations and quantities. Lets just say we used no more damping than nessecary in any sedan or hatch.
But that said, the 21"er makes the C pillars flex like crazy

the 21"er makes the C pillars flex. YIkes that would be a source of sound that is not part of the music.

Hertz Air Mille range subwoofers are designed to use only in ported or IB / Free Air install. They are dual spider design with HE surrounds. They are the most accurate and fast subwoofers I have come across.

The port length gets shorter if you have a bigger box. In this case its a 4.25 cuft box. We are using two ports so each port length gets shorter. Because of stiffer suspension offered by dual spiders you don't need much of air resistance in the box, hence shorter ports reults in faster bass.

Fb is a function of Vb and Av and Lv. It is Fb and the resultant overhang (transient response) that determines the bass tuning.

Using 2 ports means the combined area of the 2 ports should equal to that one one port. since the one port has a larger area (length is the same) the airspeed in the larger port is bit slower. this means there is less chuffing in the larger port.

Av= area of vent
Lv = Lenght of vent
Fb = tuning freq of box with vent
Vb = volume of box with vent
