Jeez! I thought DLS Iridium 6.3s were an awful lot special.

If and when you're selling them, please let me know.

Anyway LBM bhai, I will continue to follow this thread. Any hints about your new components?

Hmm long time no change in setup....

Just thought, How much important is the placement of drivers in a car environment. How much it can alter the sound stage, imaging. So decided to do a experiment on the same..here are few pics which will show how different locations were chosen and results were compared to get the best results.

OPTION 1

OPTION 2

OPTION 3

All this are just temporally placement the final location will be chosen after few of my friends who will listen to the all the three placements or even more if any idea comes to mind and the best one which yield best result will be selected for the final install.

Zucchero I am waiting for you to comment on the same after you have listen to the same.

LBM-bhai, in Option 3 (OK, it is not firmly mounted yet) maybe you could face the tweeters at each other or so approxomately? I remember Navin and B&T talking of not putting tweeters facing the cabin directly in that niche to avoid smearing & reflections.

How will it sound if you put the mids facing the windscreen (the sound would be reflected off of the windscreen)? Dementia prevents me from recalling precisely where I had seen this in relation to imaging - CDT website perhaps?

If you can get some auditioners (@zucchero already coopted!) really committed to systematically recording their observations, perhaps you could try out radical variations to get an insight into imaging. That would be of great help to the TBHP community. [Dr. Rajah Sir @Clip, you listening?]

From how the placement looks (and how it is likely to sound), my vote goes for option 3. But won't this placement affect visibility? Maybe if you aling them along the slope of the A pillar (like that lime green VW Beetle2 install) it will work without affecting visibility thaat much..

Option 2 is also likely to sound as good, but won't it intrude into cabin space a lot? I'm looking at the pics on my phone, so I maybe mistaken, but the tweet and mid look to be using up about 6 in to 1 foot of cabin space because of the angled mounting?

Definitely NOT Option 1 -- the tweet and mid are placed too far apart IMHO.

Hmmm...nice observations...I have right now install the option 1 right now in my car and Clip has listen to it also. My be he might add something here about the overall experience of the audition.

Will not hurry this time will consider any other option if it suits the install location . I can also get the speaker install in the kick panels also but it will be the last resort.

Ya exactly but he is using smaller mid thats why he has not much of a problem to install both like in option 3. But I will try if it can happen.

My major vote goes to the option 2 and the space is not at all wasted like it is in the pic....

the option 3 is play like I said earlier many Bhpians have heard it may be they can share there experience here.

LBM are you looking to modifythe door extensively?

One option is to install the midrange on the door right where the AC vent is. I would try this first and see with the AC running and blower at max to ensure that the blower does not distort the critical mids. If this location for the mids works then I would consider getting powered (instead of stalk controlled) rear mirrors and using the mirror pods for the tweeters.

I dont think the A pillar is wide enough to accomdate the midrange.

OPTION IV: you may also like to place the tweeter somewhere near your knees as done in that rainbow wala thread and see the results yourself. I think JB would be in a better position to answer this. He was mentioning some acoustic phase.

LBM sir, I suggest you avoid the "acoustic phase" option as only the gurus can work out something like that. Mere mortals like you and me are better off using the simpler methods
