Got My swift Hertz'd

Hi! Guys,

My new swift just got the hertz treatment from Dr. Gunbir( ICE specialist), Dr. Autophile( Installation specialist) and Dr. Mukul Patel( Head Of Department, ICE).

Even before getting the delivery, started looking for a decent ICE setup for my car. I had a limited budget of 20k. When I contacted Gunbir, I was apprehensive as, I thought Hertz is an expensive brand. But then wanted to try it out.

Gunbir suggested that I go for the same setup as Khaadu, and it was in my budget.

So guys took the delivery, called up Gunbir and was given time and place for the installation( Operation Theatre). After a litte bit of co-ordination reached Patel Auto, Udyog Vihar. There were many more cars to drool upon at Patel Auto. Anyways, doctors were ready with all the equipment. They took apart all the door panels and the dashboard for installing the Head Unit from the back, instead of sliding it in from the front. Though it does take away the excitement of getting a new headunit as cannot be stolen easily.

The wires were soldered and taped, instead of just taping, which ensured that there are no loose connections.

Overall, seeing the system being installed was an experience and more so becuase Specialist were working on it. I am sure there are not too many installers in Delhi who work with the same level of dedication, commitment and possess the same level of knowledge about ICE. In short workmanship is commendable. I am sure would not be able to get my future ICE done by any other guy.

I have got the following components installed in my car:
1) Pioneer 7950UB
2) Hertz DSK 165, 2 way system
3) Hertz DCX 165, Coaxial

Could have got a cheaper headunit but wanted an USB. Though getting it would have given me a chance to install next level of coaxials and 2 way as the headunit output is same, only differnce being the display, USB etc. Means the same output with 15k budget.( can be done in my other car )

No amplifier nothing and all the speakers have been installed in the stock locations i.e in front doors and the rear doors, tweeters on the dashboard near A Pillar.

Anyways, got my system installed in few hours. Switched it on and played some tracks to tweak it.

System settings are as follow:
Equalizer flat
SLA 0
Bass 0
Loud Off
HPF 50
Fader 0

As per Arush, no artificial flavoring, only original.

The system sounds awesome and with volume at higher side of 50, there is no distortion. Music is pure and clean. Never Imagined that speakers can go upto such levels without an amplifier. Can feel the bass from rear speakers.

Overall, Best Installation I have ever experienced and seen with my eyes. Great product in good price. Thanks Gunbir, Autophile and Mukul for the installation and the setup. Pictures will be posted shortly, till then I am in my car listening my system.

Congrats on the new car and the ICE, horsepower. That's some really good stuff there.

To these guys, installation is an art-form, more than just a fit-it, blast-it thing. You Delhi folks are lucky to have them around.

Nice install gunbir. I never even knew that the wires are better off soldered than entwined. Should get that done on my car as well. BTW, with eq off, loud off, Bass 0, is it that good or is it the taste of the listener ?

this is an old location, they have been put where the A column meets the body. And they do point upwards or you can say that dashboard is the base rather then the pillars.

I think the listener is being educated to keep the HU to flat which is a good thing....I bet horsepower would have not keep this setting till this time...but If one thinks he wants some minor adjustment in EQ it is good till the time the listener does not get uncomfortable.

Sir I mean that to put the tweeter facing the listener not the roof..you can mount the tweeter on the RVM plate as you dont have any adjuster there and the tweeter will be placed vertically and not facing the roof

Forget the eq, i too switch it off most of the time, but loud & bass ???

Like I said before it all depends on listener mood and tastes....

LBM, I cannot put the tweeter on the RVM plate as the RH RVM is internally adjustable and shortly there will be a LH RVM too.

Does it make any difference?

I've always said this and here I go again... A good system is like good food. You won't need to add / remove anything to improve it. So you have people who don't like ketchup with their food. And you have others who are compulsive 'fixers'. They will add ketchup, vinegar, chilly sauce and what have you to their food without so much as tasting it first. My take: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

As for the tweeter mounted near the RVM Vs mounted vertically on the RVM pods... LBM, for the sake of my curiosity, can you please elaborate what would be the exact improvement over the way its installed in the photo.

That said, the current location at the corner of the dash, next to the A pillar, is ideal for this specific setup.

Congrats on your ICE setup. Don't think those Dieci range from Hertz are some cheap-o thingys. They do sound a lot better than their price. Of course, that is if you like that kind of sound.

Music and sound tastes are very much different from each and every individuals. So, to say something is the best in audio world always means BEST for the person who is speaking. Not necessarily for the person on the other side.

I like playing around with all the bells and whistles of any audio setup. Especially the EQ settings, BBE, iPersonalize, MX, EQ-EX etc.. But after all this gulmaaals, when it comes to pure music listening and long drives, everything goes back to FLAT. Yes, even the sub level will be kept at +0 when it can be taken to +15!

If you are into good music and prefers a lot of resolution, imaging and emphasize on clear midrange, then chances are that you will switch off almost every extra glitteratti.

Please note that this all heavily depends on the HUs used and personal listening tastes.
