| Senior - BHPian | Good work, guys! Hats off to you all! You guys really stripped the car and put all the stuff back huh? Were there any "Huh, where was this supposed to go?" moments after putting everything back? ![]() No sign of Gill? Guess he's still in the car huh? ![]() And how about some pics of the finished boot, tweeter placements, etc.?

it was team work and the team was great and patient. that is waht is needed the most in an install. but at the end, ss had to go to a dinner so way a little in a hurry but i salute him for staying till the end patiently. thanks panky, JBL+ID+HERTZ+CONNECTION AUDISON+AUDIOCOMP sounds great. really. like i said earlier, the integration of the sub with the front stage was amazing. my install lags behind this one in integration department a little. i swear i could really feel the bass right in front. the highs were really nice, much better than mine. i thing its because of the head unit. my pio 6850 is quite terribly trebly. chik chik. i think pios are like this as i have always installed pio HU in my cars. cheers clip

| Sorry guys writing so late, last night I had my music on till 4 in the morning, today slogged out in the office till 8 pm. How it sounds:-I don't know!!! music is just flowing into body, sound calms me down so much, precision is quite evident. One get to hear the instruments that never had been heard before, twice I stopped my car (On way back Home) to check from were sound was coming and finally I came to know that it was an instrument being played in the song. I left Rajat's place at 9:40, I reached chandigarh by 11, but wanted to listen to my system more and I have to keep the engine on so thought of driving on, and you all won't believe I end up droving to Shimla and the distance seemed so small, music was so mesmerizing spent around an hour in Shimla, transferred some more songs to the USB drive from my PC, i was on road again. I enjoyed driving after a long long time!!! Reached Home at 3:45 in the morning. The experience was ....(U all know)I have no words so I won't say anything, but one thing for sure it is way way better the being in bed with woman!! Now coming to crusade (I connote it as crusade as three of us took the challenge to do it on our own, though temptation kept on pressing till end, to get it done from delhi)friends satisfaction is tremendous every single part transformed into a system by our hands in front of our eyes, Telling all you friends, sounds seems 10 times more sweeter if you do it on your own. One more plus is that one knows how the things are placed in the system and how are they working!! Yesterday's experience just simply overwhelming!!! CLIP n Scary did it, like it was there system. Rishab n Rajat are out to sound fanatic. Rishab is the sort of guys who will die to do the setup on his own and best thing about him is he goes into tiny details and he won't consider it done till it's 100%, to him even 99.9% won't do!! Same is for Rajat. It took around 3 hours for us to tune the system, sounds out of this world!! and we will keep on working on the system to make it better tuning wise!! Thanks goes out to all of you who helped me out one way or the other!! I am saying this as you all made me think n dream about the system, that dream was realised yesterday! Special thanks to Gunbir n Brar saab!!! You helped us a lot in planning stage. Bai ji i will keep on bugging you will question now even more regarding the system setup n tuning!!! Story doesn't ends here (as the ICE is done) rather it's a beginning of a mystique journey and will keep on sharing the experiences and learning’s with the setup and will keep on coming back to you all for clearing doubts!!! Now to some tiny things which are yet to be resolved:- My HU has two preouts. So I can't use the fader and set the soundstage, though the system has option of selecting the rear or sub!!How should i go about that!!! Pics will posted later as I shall be out of town till sunday. By monday pics will be posted for sure!! Request to Mods:-Plz delete my last post!!!!

it was really nice to meet a pleasant person like you and to be a part of your ice install. you drove to shimla and came back????? my god. you surely did enjoy the music and im more than happy and satisfied. let me tell you one thing...you have a really really good equipment and the best is the sub. guys the bass was amazing and it did go quite low make it extremely low without giving up or running out of breath. your install can be termed Low Bass Maker. low doesn't necessary mean loud. i love the sq.gill, i love audio especially DIY. when i do something to my car, i forget every other thing. it was the same with yours. i would have really felt bad if we could not finish it in time. i understand the excitement of getting a new car and and installing top grade audio equipment with your hard earned money. whatever i say is less. its that good. and now coming to your query regarding the fader control. it is not possible to fade the speakers with your current HU. that doesn't mean you cant listen to just the front stage. i have a nice solution. i even discussed it with Gunbir and he has given his approval. what you have to do is , go to an electronic components store and ask for a double pole double throw switch(gunbir, please confirm if this is the right swiitch. now wire the rear fills through this(il tell later how to wire them) when you keep the switch in off position, the speakers will be turned off. IMHO, this is the best solution. cant do better than this with your current HU. cheers clip

| BHPian | hi, i would like to share what i noticed about the equipment installed in gill's car. this only my opinion so please dont say you are talking out of your @$2. the jbl amplifier is not as smooth as a pi944 which i have. im not comparing my amp to gills amp, its a comparison of pio and jbl amp. no offense meant to any one. ![]() i felt, the jbl amp is a little overrated in power output. so i dont believe what the specs say. it would be same or a little higher than a 944. i will compare my 944 with the 75.4 when i meet gill again or if i can find one in my city. i didnt quite like the build quality of this amp. particularly, the printing of legends. it didnt feel right to me. dont know but maybe its the ink that is used or something else. the worst part of this amp is however the power input terminals, where you screw the power wire to the amp. its just too small. its the size of the speaker inputs. you cant use a crimped terminations(plugs?) on the power cable. gill used an 8 gauge cable and it fit properly but i doubt a 4g cable would fit in properly. this is also 1 reason why i think the amp is overrated. considering the power it pumps out, a speaker sized terminal is too small IMHO. im using a 25mm cable on my 944 amp and fits in good. it can even take in a bigger wire i guess. maybe, this is the reason why it is cheaper than other comparable and lesser amps. if it isn't underrated then this definitely is cost cutting. The best thing in this amp is the gain and filter adjustments are on top. its a breeze to setup the gains which can take a phillips heads(the + one) screw driver. i hate the flat head screwdriver because it slips. i dont mind the stereo mono switch on the side panel but it could have been on top with the other adjustments. but you dont need to switch from stereo to mono or vice versa often so its ok there. i really liked the kenwood HU. leaving aside the preouts, the sound was excellent. the treble particularly was sounding perfect. if im not wrong, it had both front and rear hpf which i think is good for a person who likes to listen to all the speakers. it took its own time to read the cds though but its not too slow. so this is all IMHO. no offense meant to anyone. i hope what i have written makes sense. the overall sq of the setup is great and i would recommend the equipment used. cheers clip Last edited by clipto333 : 7th September 2007 at 11:58. |

Kenwood is a FANTASTIC vfm at the price point. Good level of SQ and a USB and AuxIn. All within his budget. No other option. Quote:
Regarding pics of final setup. Sorry, we couldnt click then as it was 9PM already. I will rely on Gill to find some spare time in morning and click pics from every angle for us. Quote:
The 75.4 can sound a little harsh to a trained ear (My I Did find the components sounding sharp and dynamic, so did the installer) and Ofcourse you cant compare it to an Audison neither on performance nor money count, but end of the day, it is a very fine Amp at the price point. Quote:
I just love the display. The neat & simple menus. And the good SQ. USB and AuxIn are very good bonus too. Money well spent.
