| Yes, Finally the day came. Three guys, Clipto, Me and Gill pulled up pants to install a system in our dear Buddy, Tanvir Gill's car. 2 weeks before install:- Visiting local markets. It was a Sony head, desi alpine, paaaaoooneer 306 double coil wala and god knows what speakers in Chd. How knows how Chd people install ICE. Ludhiana was little better with Pioneer heads, JBL speakers easily available. But, Then, above equipement would mean install gets completed in initial 20k budget. HOW CAN THAT BE POSSIBLE??? !!! ![]() 1 week before install:- Most of the equipement has been decided Thanks to our friendly TBhp and suggestions from certain "friends" Only thing left know is the mounting hardware. Need to check in depth and order that also cuz wont get that all in my city. 2 Days before install:- All the equipement arrives. Everything looks beautiful! Here is what all came. HU -> Kenwood 4036 Front Soundstage -> Hertz Energy ESK165 Rear Fill -> Hertz Energy ECX165 Sub -> Image Dynamics ID10D2 V.3 D2 Amplifier -> JBL GTO75.4 Wiring -> Connection Audison FPK300 RCA -> Connection Audison FT2 500 x 2 Speaker Wiring -> Connection Audison FL214 Damping -> AZaudiocomp FONOMAT Enclosure terminal -> AZaudiocomp AT25 Connectors(to prevent tape joints)-> WEURTH bullet type connectors Meanwhile, I buy a sheet of MDF and get to work on a friend's Jigsaw. Lesson learnt:- Working with MDF is a pain in the ***. Just too must wood dust all around. 1 Day before Install:- Manage to get the box together and carpeted. Spacer rings also made. Install Day 5/8/2007:- Gill sahab arrives from Chd to my place by 9.30AM Install begins by 10.00 AM. It starts raining by 10.30AMand thus Delaying Clipto's arrival. But hardly a problem for us, as install is going on indoors. Door panels removed meanwhile. 11.30AM -> Clip baba arrives. Then, the three guys get down to work I handle the powering part. Then the other two guys handle RCA and speaker wire duty. Trusty local installer's guys are also calling in for help in the cumbersome process of laying cables and most importantly, DAMPING. Damping done in three layers per door and boot. Inside doors. Then on the door. Then behind the plastic door and boot trim. 1.30 PM-> I make a dash to the McDonalds to get McChicken burgers for the two guys. They are dead hungry by this point. And I can do with a bit (actually, LOT ) of dieting.5PM -> Cabin cables done. Doors damped. Spacer rings installed. HU installed. Time to work on getting the Sub in the enclosure and the terminal installed. 7PM -> Everything fitted. Test time. Components SUPER sweet. ID is an evil SUB! More on it later. for now we start to wrap up the install. 9PM -> Install completed fully. Tuning done. I get to keep Clip's test tone cd's ![]() 9.30PM -> I go home for dinner. Exhausted. BUT, the smile on Gill's face is enough. Pics to follow soon.

| Senior - BHPian | Nice one Scaryskulls. We are waiting for pictures. We in Pune (Read as Shrivz, Amey and Payam) have been doing something similar although not to the extent of doing up the entire car. Great effort and nice friendly spirit. Now can we move the thread to http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-do-yourself/

| Scary, this reminds me of the old days. Only then I worked alone. None of my friends cared to understand audio. This was before the dawn of the PC (Apple IIe etc...).

| BHPian | hi guys, here are a few pics of the install. my cameras battery conked off in the evening and we were too engrossed and tired to put it on charging. lol. sacry sculls has already posted about how the install went, ill post the finer point of the install(if there are any, ofcourse) with the pics or otherwise as i upload the pics. i haven't done any install work leaving aside my cars. so this is my first. Here are the pics Stuff going in(the wires were taken out of the packing were being installed so thats why the empty container.) The Subwoofer. An ID10 dual 2 ohms. The 2-way co-axials. Hertz Energy Ecx 165. The 2-way component speakers. Hertz Energy ESK165. The Head Unit. Kenwood with USB. The Amplifier. A JBL 75.4 Door panels and lots of other panels stripped and a little damping done. Damping Underway. More damping Centre console stripped, wiring done. Damping on all doors done. Space Rings installed. Thats me, test fitting the rear co-axials Done Mr. Scary Sculls A.K.A. Rajat Installing the power cable and fuse block. Me again, Inspecting and finishing the damping and having a little laugh. had to check it because i could see loose edges. Me again, smoking and the damping on door inspected, co-ax installed, ready to fix the panels. ![]() Me terminating subs wire with ss. Note: cigarette on that black railing thingy. i smoke too much. ![]() Me again wiring the sub in series. ![]() Me and Gill mounting the sub in the enclosure. This was the most difficult part because of the screw driver. it wasn't of proper size or had wared out. i would have had a heart attack if any thing happened to that beautiful sub. Note: the cigarrete on the black thingy above my lower arm. I need to quit, thats too much. ![]() So these are the pics from my camera, a sont T-7 so please forgive me for the quality as it is a point and shoot cam. The install wasn't easy at all. we had to do alot of thinking. there were some errors like the spacers were installed with the screws that were just below the drivers so had to counter sink (or what ever you call it) the screws so that the drivers fit perfectly flat. and this took quite some time as we had to rectify all of them. The other persons heping us were least helpful. they were increasing the work rather than helping us. it was really frustrating. The Sq was amazing. i have never seen better integration of the sub with the front stage. MIND BLOWING. the music was crystal clear with perfect highs and mids and lows as well. right now, because of only 2 preouts on the HU, there was no fader control for the speakers. the fronts are on the amp, rear fills on the HU and the sub Bridged on the amp getting some 280w. Got to go, rest of the details later sorry. cheers clip Last edited by clipto333 : 6th September 2007 at 15:22. |
