| Senior - BHPian | I had been arguing with myself since sometime to get my lancer an ICE upgrade. It finally happened after 4 years. My Special and most grateful thanks to Gunbir and Satya (Blueraven) for giving me the correct information. Also I want to thank Vishal (Mugen_power) I had initially started with a budget of 12 grands. I ended up spending 3 times more money instead. ![]() The components 1. Pioneer 7650UB 2. JBL amp wiring kit (pretty old but sealed and made in mexico) 3. BM Boschmann 6X9 4-way speakers (used from old setup) 4. Bassworx MDF 12" sub enclosure 5. Soundstream picasso Pw12L DVXC 350w RMS sub 6. Soundstream Lil Wonder II 4.480 480W RMS amp 7. Soundstream XTC 6.5" 110w RMS components The primary installation of drivers, components and Amps along with wiring was done by a technician. But It was absolutely shoddy. One doesnt get good After market job done in Ahmedabad due to low demand. 1. The headunit was absolutely loose with the surrounding ring not sticking in. 2. The component sets were not placed in line. 3. The Mid bass drivers were within the door and not producing full sound. 4. The Sub was DVC needing series wiring but he did it in parallel increasing power draw from the amp. 5. The amplifier was installed on the boot floor which being carpeted didnt allow good air circulation leading to overheating. 6. He drew the power cables and speakers cables from the same side thus inducing engine noise in the speakers. It was plain horrible. So I decided to read and learn and do it myself again. I redid the cables and drew the power cable from the passenger side while drawing the speaker cables from Driver side. I changed the screw holding the HU and now its a 100% fit. I glued the component tweeters again placing them at equal distance. I got the mid bass drivers re-installed by a proffessional. The Sub wiring was also changed to reduce the load on the amp. I decided to install the amp on the side facilitating the air circulation to keep it running cool. I was previously looking for a Clarion DXZ776USb HU but it was just not available anywhere. Finally settled for Pioneer 7650UB. For the rest of the setup I was planning to go with Hifonics, JBL and Hertz setup but then I found connections with a soundstream Distributor and got them at a good price. Couldnt resist and went ahead. Many people used to say that Old soundstream products rocked and the new ones after being owned by Power acoustic were not good. But I never met anybody who had heard them before commenting. The reason was based on the fact that the new products were made in China instead of US. I am totally satisfied with the way my system sounds for the price I paid. report 1. My creative zen is not supported on the USB unless I run it in Mass storage. 2. The Bass is superb from the sub. I have never heard such a wide range of bass frequencies until now. It does make my rearview mirror vibrate which is annoying. I dont know hot to fix this. help. ![]() 3. I now need to replace the rear parcel shelf. 4. I get good clean sound even at highest volumes. 5. I had a doube whether the sub will interfere in ghazals and other slow songs but it just goes tame. I am uploading the pics in the next post. Last edited by devarshi84 : 5th May 2008 at 14:11. |

| BHPian | amazing setup devarishi. Can you provide a break up of each piece along with installer's charges. how much Time it took for the whole setup? Did you use sound dampners on doors and boot? Vibration - Welcome to the world of bass. you have to live with it.

| Senior - BHPian | Nice work but I think the tweeter should have been flush mounted by cutting through the door pad. Whats your opinion of BassWorx box? I had installed the same. How much had you paid for the same ? BTW is that JBL amp kit original ?

I havent used sound dampners anywhere. I am not irritated by the vibration of the mirror but the rattling. It kills the sweetness of bass. Quote:
Bassworx box is great. perfectly cut and solid. I have to rescrew the sub after the re-wiring but it still holds great. I paid 1200 for the box including shipping. I guess it is because it is too old and the packaging was a premium one. Also the cable was really solid and it took some effort for the technician to cut it. I already had them since before and doesnt make much sense just ditching the speakers. Plus I had tested pioneer and kenwood co-axials back then and these gave the best sound output.
