Default I.C.E. for my NHC VTEC (Pics Attached)

Hi guys,

Yesterday i upgraded my NHC's I.C.E.
Last month i had changed rear stock speakers with Pioneer 5way 460W TS6992.
Things were not up to the mark so i had fitted a Sub and an Amp.

Amp - Pioneer GM4300F 4 Channel Amp. 400W Price-7K
Sub - TS-W307D2 1200W with Custom made enclosure Price-4K
Rear Speakers - Pioneer 5 way 460W Price-3.5K
H.U. Stock Alpine Double din(Crappiest Interface EVER)

I was looking for listening pleasure at low volumes, but after fitting all the equipment i am still not happy.

The Bass kicks in around when 40% of the volume is achieved, decent but the serious thump was missing.

I called the fitting guys again, After re-checking all the wires he said what he had been emphasizing earlier that H.U. does not have detailed control of the sub woofer nor it had more than 2 RC out.
He fitted his Pioneer single-din player and showed me what that amp and sub could do.

The bass was awesome, rich and heart pounding.

I guess now i have change the H.U. as well

Any ideas guys how resale value i should get for 4 month old Alpine Double-din system.

Thanks guys

Amp under the seat, a brilliant idea dude.
By the way, why seeling the HU, retain it and change it back to the one which company gives when you will sell the car

Also what's that sticker on the left of your steering?

Thanks Abhinav,

regarding HU i plan to keep the car for a long time, who knows by the time i sell the car the world would have moved to to newer technologies like HDD/Flash memory players (USB port players are already quite popular)

The sticker is a Honda Disclaimer on using Original Cd's only.

@bob : Retain the HU, just try the settings properly in the amp.
@Abhinav : The sticker is cautioning the owner not to use pirated cds as it may damage the head unit . Reduces the sound quality. isnt it???

Thanks mn, will give it a try, but UI of the Alpine is so unnecessary complicated

1. compare the setting on the Pio HU vs the Alpine HU, if the Pio had a bass boost while the Alpine was set to flat there would be a difference.
2. to me it seems that the amp is a bit under powered for the sub.

what jesal said is right, Pioneer is at present good, only in Making head units. Its really tough to find out whether the product is original or fake.

Hope the wiring is right as its a DVC.
Pioneer TS-W307D2 - www.pioneer.eu

And as Navin said, that amp puts out just 40Wx 4. Get a more powerful amp for that DVC.
  • 40 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (50 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms)
  • 100 watts RMS x 2 in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)

Congrats buddy on your new ICE upgrade and why pioneer sub? (could have tried Kenwood if not JBL) as everyone else pointed they are good for HU alone, however if you are satisfied then the above is nullified . Have fun and enjoy the upgrade.

why do you want to sell alpine HU?

@VJ pioneer subs are good enough i think sub is way much better than JBL and Kenwood!

Here's what i did in ma second car lancer sfxi:-

When i bought the car back in 2005, it had the stock kenwood cassette player with a 10 cd changer and 40W x 4 stock speakers.

I happened to get this pio amp GM 4000F and pio 1000 watt sub from a friend. When i tried to fix the amp, i found out that the HU didnt have RCA outs. So, i connected the
rear and front speaker output of the HU to the amp, then i connected the 4 speakers to 2 channels and the other 2 channels were bridged and the sub was connected.

So the left channel of the amp powers the left front and rear speakers. The right channel of the amp powers the right front and rear speakers. Other 2 channel in bridged mode powers the sub.

The settings in the amp were:-

HPF set to 75% to power the speakers.

LPF set to 60% to power subs

The Output:-

The sub produced good bass and lows. The speakers produced decent quality Mids and little highs.

The sound output is not mind blowing, but still competes with the basic amp-sub installs of today

I got good response for the low investment from friends.
I have done 3 similar installs for friends in Travera, Indica, and opel Astra club.

Please find the explanation attached
