Default WagonR - Alpine+Coustic+Kicker=Space Saving (No tall claims though!!!)

Hi All,

As promised in my previous post - WagonR Peculiar requirements (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/ask-gu...quirement.html (WagonR - Peculiar Requirement)) here are the pics of my install.

1 - Boxes :-)

6 - AMP: Kicker 2 Ch (Will upload images in next post as I have exhausted quota)

Installation: Tecnokrat - Chennai
Front Coax: In Stock
Rear Coax: On hatch door - with a thick wood board
Sub: Sealed enclosure. This enclosure is removable. Whenever there is a need for boot - remove sub - change HPF setting to OFF. That lets the bass frequencies pass through front and rear both speakers.
Amp: Below pillion (Say clearner ) Seat

Sound tuning:
1 - Bass = Center Freq: 80 Hz; Gain 0 Normally; Width Q1 (Narrow)
2 - Treble = Center Freq: 15 KHz; Gain 0 Normally
3 - SubWoofer = 7 on 15 (on HU) - Not sure gain tuning on Amp
4 - Amp powers Subs - I guess both channels are bridged
5 - Front & Rear Coaxes driven out of HU

Sound Effects:
Nice deep bass. Good Mids. Sharp Highs. Music choice - Hard rock & Heavy metal - Entire setup sounds nice. Sometimes - Highs come out pretty sharp (cymbals) - I guess some would find them to be bright!!!

Player clarity: Simply amazing!!! CDs / MP3s / IPOD / FM works fantastic. This HU was bought after comparison with Pio4050. Alpine simply rocks!!!

Overall = ROCKS

Space Saving = Customizable boot! Sub can be removed to make space for luggage.

No MODIFICATIONS / CUTS: Except the hatch door wood panel!!!

Most of All: SOUND QUALITY: SUPER!!!

Congrats!!

I recently got a Alpine 9887, agree with you that Alpine sound quality is awesome!!

Any particular reason for not going for a 4 channel amp powering both the sub and front speakers? I am wondering whether the front sound stage is getting compomised.

nice clean setup mate!!
But as stated by patiencewins, the front staging is being compromised but the end of the story is if you are happy your ICE rocks
BTW how does this 10" kicker perform and what are the specfs for the sub and the amp??
I have seen kicker they have real solid cone!!
Enjoy your setup.

I had never thought that I would go for a Sub. Original idea was to go for good 4 speakers powered by HU only. But auditioned a couple of SUb Setups and then decided to go for. SO next logical (tried to restrict already swelling cost of ovrall install) step was to get a simpleton Sub and Amp - Basic models. And hence. - well may be during next upgrade.

Besides the guy also advised that since i was going for stock size speaker only - 4 inch - did not need tobe powered. 22RMS on HU should be sufficient!!!

Thanks Nickoo - Kicker actually gives good bass. Especially since this is sealed enclosure - it is soundinging pretty nice - of course it may not compare with permanent fixture subs but overall nice results.

Here are the specs for Amp & Sub. (3 Images: Amp Box / Amp Specs / SubSpecs)

Good Setup! So finally you've selected 9886! Which USB cable are you using? Did it come with HU? Is this model Satellite radio ready ?

Which basically means you're running everything flat, right? And what's the "Normally"?

I mostly use the iPOD / CDs - so far I have not connected any USB Drives. For IPOD I had to buy the alpine cable. You can connect your iPOD to USB input but that does not recognize the folder structure / ID3 / interface does not work - but with this added cable i get full functionality of iPOD on HU...The cable costed 2k though ;'(

HU costed 15k +2k for Cable
Speakers: 5k (Front & Rear all included)
Amp & Sub + enclosure: 14k
Throw in the installation + Cabling etc approx 38k

Yes I run almost everything flat. In very few cases where sound quality is not upto the mark (low sampling rate etc) - is where i need to pump up the Bass / Treble / SW settings...Which is why I said Normally!!!

Hey! Kewl man.
That's an amazing, everything @ stock location install. Good products used too.
Enjoy your setup and space!

When's the next upgrade coming up? I'm sure you need a good component upfront. Don't you?

15k is without B&W. With B&W is 16590 + tax.

HU comes witha short USB cable (insufficient to get it all the way to front - so if you want to Use USB - you would need an extension)
IPOd adapter (Looks like elder brother of Serial Port) is there but you need a separate IPOD cable
