this is OK when you use this on the panel's but can this be used inside the door, the main purpose of this foam is to fill the gap between the panel and the door to prevent them from vibrating

@iPlay & greenhorn, possibles for Audition:
Kochi
1) Mine
2) ID CTX + Audison Lrx
3) Rainbox SLX265 + Blau4xx (forgot no., heh heh) when Zak gets back
4) Random setups being installed/hanging about at my installers'
The folks other than me have to volunteer, but I don't think that will be a problem here, as long as they are free
Hydra,
I love to fiddle with the controls and it reached a point where I started do that while driving also. So i stopped it completely. Once I am happy with a particular setting, I don't experiment further. Now its more listening and very less tuning. In that way, the present setup is quite good. best of both worlds, as you put it.
When is the next meet? I mean, I can see all of you and your ICE setup in one go. Please let me know in advance.

Yes, you are right. i am still using the passive cross over.

The sub is installed in a 1cft sealed enclosure. It is playing excellent without any equalisation. I was checking the options in the amp and hence asked greenie about parametric EQ. MX is off and Defeat is ON. So I will continue using the same settings.

Do get the damping done else the GZ will make your car part fall to ground.
And ya do upgrade the Compos up front atleast. Cheers!
Yes, Sir. the GZ pounds really hard. Damping had been done before the sub upgrade. Compos will go as and when I find a better (and affordable) one.

Thanks, Sir.
I would love to meet you. Your ICE is one of the best here. Would love to hear that anyday.

Elaborate setup???? You must be kidding.
When I thought of posting here, I felt like parking M800 among Mercs and Beemers. No offense meant to M800 lovers. I too love that car.
Btw, it was nice talking to you.

If it is "felt" then it might be a problem during the rains. This will lead to rusting. From my personal experiences Swift is not that water proof.

As pointed out by karan felt on the door panels wou'dnt do proper damping to the doors.

Is felt that heavy?

During the audition the volume was also not that high to chk out the effect of damping :(.

For my needs i used 40 ft Noise kill which was around Rs .6000

See the pics i dont think the Accumat usage was not beyond 10 ft at max. Far too expensive!

heh. it cost me just 1.5k to get my door and hatch damped with that stuff , and it makes a world of difference ( especially in the indica , where the speakers are mounted on the door panels)

Oops!!!
I have to check the damping cost again. I think he charged me for 3 (one for each of the doors) sheets and according to him it costs around 2K/sheet.
The door pads also got the felt treatment as shown by greenhorn.

@iPlay, I will PM you my number. The Kochi boys have mini-meets nearly every weekend, though I don't get to attend most for one reason or other :( We can plan to meet on a weekend and have a meet setup with the rest of the Kochi folks.

That damping material (silver) is Accumat. 2000/- per sheet is a bit expensive, I think. The other stuff is indeed some felt-like material. I've seen it being used, and it seems to do the job very well for minimum cost. But I'm not sure how well it will hold up in moist/wet conditions.

iPlay, was the ICE installed at EndEffect?

Accumat usage is only for the door panels (What i see in silver colour) and not the inside areas, Is It ? Is that what you are referring to 3 sheets?

Any Idea of how much area was it in Sq Feet?

Nandan, the Accumat was cut according to the shape and size of the holes on the door cage. The pics I took are of early stage of the work. Even small holes were sealed. So I think they used one sheet per door. The felt material used was in addition to the Accumat. Felt was applied inside of the outer metal sheet of the door and inside the door panel. The same had been done to the boot lid.

No idea how big that sheet is. But I think the installer told me, If the entire door is to be sealed with full sheet (not just the holes), 3 sheets would be enough for two front doors. I don't know how far it is true.

Why would they cover just the holes with the Accumat? Serves no purpose!

If they at all wanted the sheet to be used, it should have been on the outer panel where they have stuck felt pads, which again is sub-optimal as far as dampening that panel is concerned. Well, the damping there would not be zero, but IMHO it would neither stop panel-resonance noise nor transmitted road noise.

And, as far as filling the holes is concerned, I think it would be a very simplistic logic: he is creating a "speaker box" to make the speakers sound better. Not realizing that the sheet would flex like a drum skin, defeating that logic - the sheet would be an acoustically transparent membrane !
