Default Innova Install

Hey guys.... I'm back... another day, another install... and this time its the Toyota Innova.

The Objective: Pure SQ for discerning owner
The Challenge: The Innova is a very large vehicle, built very light so prone to lot of resonance of body and interior panels. The car variant was top of the line with bucket seats in the 3rd row as well. So we could only fit one sub, which would have to be a very nice one to work well with the speakers upfront. While fitting the sub behind the 3rd row seats posed its own problems, another issue was 'aligning' the bass so that upfront passengers had no delay in bass response.

So here we go...

The stock door

Panel removed and OEM speaker (rivetted to the body) removed

As mentioned, the doors and panels need a lot of damping. Here we use Dynamat original on the door.

More damping

The OEM speaker (left) and the ID CX62 Midbass (right)

The ID CX62 mounted with custom MDF spacer ring

Panel closed with ID NX30 tweeter installed with swivel mount

Here you see the Stock HU

Aftermarket HU - Pioneer 8650. Note the mounting plate fabricated to fit the DIN unit into the Toyota oversized location. The creme finish matches the interiors.

Image Dynamics IDQ8 8" Sub in a sealed enclosure, designed to go under the front seats. So two subs upfront...

Going under...

Connection Audison 4g Power Cable

ID CXS62 Crossover

Audison LRx1.400 drives the subs... This dimunitive amp is rated at 900w cont output at 1ohm!!

Underbelly of the Audison, see the ELNA caps

Audison LRx4.300 ready to go under the other seat, powers the 2 pairs of ID CXS62 comps

Going under...

Stiffening Cap installed at the rear in the stock pocket

The IDQ15 in an awesome sealed enclosure. Blends purrrrfect...

So while the IDQ15 takes care of the overall bass duties, upfront subs (2x8s) belt out tight, immediate bass that just blends in so well, you dont even know they are firing under your seat.

Net result: Tight, accurate, musical, audiophile sound that sounds right in every seat.

Any help needed... just holla...

Glad you like it. Jb puts in a LOT of time and hands on work into these installs along with our dealers. We ensure our dealers have complete access to our experience, knowledge base and resources.

There are many things that you dont see in the pics. As they say... Its in the details... Feel free to ask questions here or by IM.

Great install, Gunbir... Looks excellent... And appreciate the commitment you and JB show by involving yourselves when the install is happening... Very few distributors would want to do that.....

Thanks Sam. You're right. It sounds awesome. And the Innova is a very tough car to get audiophile sound from.

No... We NEVER do any direct installs. They are ALL installed at our dealers workshops. The interesting ones get our supervision and attention. And we love to get down and dirty and pitch in. In fact, better part of the week is spent at the dealers workshops... As you can see, we have some very talented and committed dealers

Hmm... money... close to 2lakh on the equipment... cant comment on what the dealer charged as installation charges...

Suppose I want to install speakers on the front door of my Alto, what do I do? Me thinks cutting holes in the fibre panel is the only way.

Thanks navin, but these kits are for mostly the vehicles which are sold in the US and Toyota Innova is not sold there. So at present there is no such kit available for innova. So we did a custom job to install the Head Unit.

Mama mia 2 lakhs a lot of money to put in a stereo in one go!!

BTW Did the Innova really need the IDQ 15" sub?? Would not a 12" suffice? coz there are already 2 8" subs in front.
