A lot depends on the type of problem. If the issue is minor, you could have a road side mechanic do a stop-gap arrangement.

If the issue is complicated, like busted engine parts, then it's better you tow the car to a A.S.S.; especially if your car is under warranty.

There can be a lot of reasons for a vehicle to stall whist running. Starting from blown fuses, to clogged fuel lines, bad ignition, frayed wires, intake, sensors going kaput, overheating etc..etc.. and the list goes on......

The best thing to do then would be to call the helpline of the particular manufacturer. Those guys do know a bit or two about dealing with car specific roadside emergencies. You just need to explain the symptoms in detail. They even give us a step by step DIY technique.

Again, if that does not suffice, and the vehicle do needs to be towed, (like when overheating) do follow the guidelines given in http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ut-engine.html

A fellow bhp'n posted a useful video elsewhere in the forum. I thought a link of that video would do justice to this thread.

Roadside emergencies: How to start a car with jumper cables.
