Although this thread is about the madness rains bring about in Pune, I can't help being nostalgic about the Pune rains.

True about being a Punekar, Pune indeed is the best city in the world.

Without doubt! Although Parihar chowk and the stretch near Sanewadi sure throws traffic completely out of gear!

According to Kalpana-1's (the met satellite) pictures I had this "kalpana" that it might rain in the evening. So came back early. Turns out that my kalpana was actually a kalpana. This is what I saw from the balcony towards the south.

Such a clear day. One can see the Bapdeo ghat, Sinhagarh hills and pretty much the entire Pune laid out in front of you.

A close up of the same view.

The east side, the adjacent golf course.

The north side, one can spot the airport hills and the occasional aircraft taking off.

A fish can breathe out here.

I love Pune.

@mdsaab called me to say that work on Chicca has started and he sounded so happy. Me happy too. No rain, no madness, but peaceful.

Seems to be Bombay Sappers / BEG. For Kothrud only thing Green could be a few painted Green buildings. Its a concrete jungle out there.

Your thread takes me back to those days.

Damn! I want my dhabeli and wada pao :(
LOL...well the baarish part will start soon. And just to pull you back further to your days in Pune , the rains drenching the place , a cold breeze cutting the air and a steaming hot cup of chai (at a "Tapri") and a sizzling hot wadapaav...dude thats stuff of dreams. And if you are looking out at some green hill or mountain in the vicinity of PUne with clouds covering the top its a "Chaar chaand" lag gaye waali situation

That actually is Vishrantwadi. Probably, one of the few places left in Pune that has some greenery.

Sorry continuing with OT -

Checkout SahakaarNagar with the backdrop of Taljai & Parvati (where I stay) - I could add it to the list of one more greener areas from Pune.

Yes a beautiful area indeed. We have come down to Sahakaarnagar a couple of times and took a nice walk at Taljai. Lovely greenery and fresh air.

Did anyone read about the guy who was washed away as he was helping his colleague push his bike on waterlogged roads, in last Friday's heavy rains ?
They are trying to trace his body all the way upto Indapur, where apparently, the canal ends.

^^ Yeah, read that in yesterdays paper. Pretty scary indeed.
What I did not understand is, if the two of them were together, then how did the other guy not realise that his friend was missing? Things just dont add up.

I was on that road that evening and passed by an hour or so before that incident. The canal was really full and there is no divider between canal and road.
