Was the picture of the Peugeot 309 taken near L.B nagar in the street adjacent to big bazaar? I had recently gone to a dental camp in one of the primary government schools there and remember seeing a 309 in very similar surroundings
As far as I can remember these were clicked near Bandlaguda area (Saroor Nagar).

A friend from Mumbai says this is abandoned. Sad to see a limited edition car in such a state.

These cars (2 x Chevrolet Aveo, 1 x Opel Astra) are lying inside a disputed property.

Both the Aveos' look ready for the scrapyard. They have been left with most of their windows rolled down and seem to have a lot of parts missing + accident damage.

On the other hand, the Astra looks to be in good condition barring the faded paint and the minor dents. Can't make out if there is a lot of rust, but the body looks very straight. Would have been nice if someone could save it.

But knowing how long it takes to sort out any dispute in court, I bet these cars will be too far gone to save. I can't understand why would anyone just leave something which is still usable, to just rot away?! Sad.

(Sorry for the poor picture quality. Taken from a good distance at nearly full zoom)

Slightly off-topic, However, would appreciate help in identifying which model is it? Is it same as the CJ3B? (Please pardon my knowledge about jeep models)

Where exactly is this in PCMC? And is it owned by an individual? Any chances this being on sale? I know someone who is looking for a project jeep and might be interested in this example.

The photographed jeep is lying on the road just opposite the Sant Tukaram police station. If you come into the road from the police station, this will show up on the left hand side. This jeep has been lying around for some time now and I am sure the owner stays nearby in one of the houses on the sideways. Have a look and see if that serves the purpose.

After the flood, I've seen way too many newer cars rotting by the roadside in chennai.
Sorry, no pix as there are way too many of them.
I'm hoping they get fixed though

Exclamation Re: Newer Rotting Cars

It certainly is saddening to see cars being abandoned to slow deaths instead of even a dignified death at the scrapyard.

This got me wondering though. What would be the security threats they pose since so many cars seem to be openly abandoned well within city limits? If terrorists manage to plant explosives in such cars, the impact would be devastating. And since the cars have been lying around since months, if not years, no one would notice them.

There should be strict legislation against leaving cars in public spaces after a certain period. They should either be sold off or scrapped. Govt. should take an aggressive stance against this abandonment and tow away the cars to ensure clean and more importantly, safe roads.

I know it would be very hard to ascertain what vehicle is abandoned and what is 'parked'. Even so, I hope they come up with some measures against this. Something like, "Prevention of Cruelty against Vehicles Act"

Hello Shubhendraji,

Apologies for not updating the thread with an update.

My friend found another example and is planning to restore it. Thus, he is no longer interested in this example.
