Trust me only Europeans have solid built cars which give a tank like feel.
eg:- Fiat Palio although a hatch is much safer than the Ikon / Accents.

In our country we only have Czech and Italian cars with tank like feel now bcoz Opel (German) is no more being promoted by GM now in India with Chevy brand doing well.
but the octavia is based on a german car.....

The only thing czech about Skoda is the name. Almost every part on it is made in Germany and is shared by VW, Audi and Seat.

Now does this mean the insurance company will not pay more that 45K for the repairs.

Are we saying this skoda can be repaired?. It looks beyond repairing to me.

Even if it is repaired will it be able to hold up to, God forbid, another crash like this.

Guys, think if someone is planning to get his car modified fully and has a crash like this, can he claim the insurance money and use it to modify the car.

Hi,
yea the skoda octavia is based on the chassis of the volkswagen jetta.. which in turn is the younger brother of the vw passat. All of us know how strong the vw's are...

Now thats a bad crash .. but i am not by any means surprised to hear that all the passengers/driver came out unhurt .. Thats one of the areas where the german build quality, octavia scores ...
The best part is that the insurance surveyour from TATA-AIG came over, asessed the damage and says that the car can be repaired. And for only Rs.45,000/-! TATA apparently think Skoda authorised service centres are charities! So it's not only ICICI that play games but other so called good private companies that try these stunts as well. Nationalised Insurance zindabadd!!!
Looking at the pics i guess the repair costs could be somehere between Rs. 7-9 lacs ..

Sure is a bad crash, the rear of the car is completely screwed up, if the owner changes the shell of the car it would be fine, and would get the car back in shape, but i doubt if the insurance peiple are gonna do that

Damn thats one hard crash. Good to know that the car held up pretty well and everyone are safe. Looking at the car, damages will be more than 5lacs fore sure.

Crash looks quite bad.
Repair cost is done by Skoda will def. be in excess of 3L.
Perhaps the insurance company is suggesting at repairing the car outside at a private garage where they will do a shoddy job.
SSjr,
the Octavia is based on the VW golf.
