One main difference I noticed on the Bangalore-Mysore SH 17 during my drive to and fro Mysore a coupla days back: most of the speed-breakers have been replaced with manually-adjustable barricades at most of the junctions, compelling us to drive zig-zag through those barricades. Invariably, there was traffic jam before each set of barricades with everyone trying to squeeze into the little space available between those barricades.

I did a BLR-MYS-BLR trip a couple of weeks ago. The barricades are a much lesser evil, although they do tend to pile up traffic at times.
