Default Hailstones and cars

Let me share a few hailstone-damage pics I received over WhatsApp last week. The rains were at Bangalore.

OMG, a new DZire screwed!!! Last year my Fiesta too was a victim of hailstones, but not this bad. My car suffered surface level dents all over the roof, boot and bonnet. The hailstones were half as big as shown above. Happened while I was driving on Mysore road, the rainstorm was so heavy that no car could move ahead, and I had stopped the car, hoping for the windshield not to break.

Faced a hailstorm once at Yamuna expressway. We were in a Etios cab but luckily the car escaped unhurt. Our driver was smart enough to drive beside a truck, so his car got saved from a good amount of hit! Attaching a video of the same. Please increase the volume for getting better sound effects.

My god, feel sad for the owners of the damaged cars. Am really thankful i have a basement parking for my car both at home and office, and my car is not exposed to such weather extremities. My Father In Law did have such an incident in Jaipur a couple of years back. Had to get the entire windshield of his i10 replaced (god bless zero dep insurance!). When Jaipur got unseasonal rains this time, he was prepared with a desi jugaad - cardboard sheets to cover the winsdshield and it worked effectively!

We used to get these sort of hail storms back in the USA as well. Can do a lot of damage!

In the USA most car dealers keep hundreds of brand new cars outside on their forecourt. Lots of people waiting for a hail storm as it would always get the dealers to let go of the cars cheaply. As long as you don't mind a few dings. Obviously, some of these pictures show a bit more of damage, so it depends a bit
