Without sounding rude, it seems like a lot of grief could have been avoided if they had all worn their seatbelts.

Yup... seatbelts and potentially airbags if they had existed could have saved the chaps. However this looks like the trucker's fault. Look where the truck is on the highway.

Are there any pointers that the seat belts were not on? Even when one is extraced out of the car and the seat belt is released, the belt is going to come back to its original place.

Yes, the fact that there is blood on the driver's side visor. And there is no way the passengers in the rear could have been hurt if they had buckled up. The rear appears to be unharmed, except for the doors, which are that way because the chassis has been bent.

My friend told Seatbelts not worn. If there were seatbelts worn and airbags there were chances. But the space between driver's sear and steering was less than one foot.

There is blood on the dashboard it is of the passenger who were sitted in middle at rear, who died on way to hospital and he was the owner of the car.

This doesn't look like a wreck which should've killed 3 people. Maybe a seriously injured driver, but not more. It does point to a high probability of the belts not being in use. Another set of fatalities against "speeding" and "unsafe highways".

Horrible waste of human life - I hope those left behind recover from the trauma. I also wish we take up a serious campaign to educate people about the need for buckling up. Laws enforcing this are one thing - but somehow most people don't really know or think it helps.

Ooops thats sad....I too think seat belts could have saved them, I am sure.... I have a video demo which illustrates what happens when the seatbelt is not worn, it clearly says even at lower speeds u can hit ur head on dashboard and also break ur spinal cord which means spot dead...

RIP guys !!! But Mugen how come the car went and hit the rear axle of such a big truck... I am not able to imagine how it happened...
