May sound a bit gross. Just switched on TV and the Headlines Today was showing this scroll:

Advani assures Haren Pandy's wife who is demanding justice for her husband's killers.

Justice for her husband's killers??

Hi, this one was spotted at one of the various stalls at Marina Beach. Any takers for Jayalakshmi's 'BAL' poori? I think she's hairy and scary!

Sundal is a simple South Indian recipe, mostly a snack made with different legumes like White chickpeas, black chickpeas ('Kadalai' sundal), butter beans ('Mochakottai' sundal), dried peas ('Pattani' sundal) etc. It's prepared on festivals especially Ganesh Chaturthi down here in south.

The name actually means what @Superslick has mentioned, but will not be available in chaat shops! What the board means here is the gravy like stuff containing peas/bengal gram, sometimes served as accompaniment to Masala Poori/cutlet/Samosa etc!

I don't have a picture of it (no cell phones with cameras then!), but I could never forget a sign board I saw while passing a village near Tuticorin in 1986. It proudly proclaimed in the vernacular "Here xerox will be taken in Tamil, English, Hindi and all Indian languages"!
