Default My car had a BLAST!

Last night, while returning home from work, had a really scary incident with my car. It scared me but more than that, scared the $@#t out of everyone around. After a 15 KM drive, was waiting for the signal to turn green. Suddenly, there was a loud blast from under the hood followed by thick white smoke coming out from under the hood as well as the sides of the car. The smoke was coming out with a lot of pressure, something like you get when you have a nitrous purge kit. It came out like that for at least 10 seconds. I switched of the engine and got out really scared. Some autorickshaw guys around me jumped out of their rickshaws and fled, leaving the scared passengers inside. Couple of bike guys left their bikes and ran. It was funny as well as scary. Was too scared to start the car so got it towed to the garage. Guess what was the problem?? The AC pipe had burst and all that scary smoke was the AC gas coming out. Just shows how such a small thing can scare the crap out of people.

with all those mods under the hood i should say i'm glad it was just the AC pipe!!

but then tell me does the AC unit in our cars really build up so much pressure to live up to the kinda blast your talking about???

Well, actually the pipe was replaced with a new one just a couple of weeks ago. The new pipe was not installed properly and it was rubbing against the body. So after a while, it came apart.

really funny.

but what's so funny about a blast in mumbai. everybody is on their toes all the time.

reminds me of the scene in a movie where a few commandos come running when the lady breaks a coconut in front of a temple in a terrorist ridden region of Kashmir LOL

Oh Man! Scary incident. What with all the bombs that are blasting all over the countryside these days, it is not surprising that people fled the scene.

Whoa! Scary on road!

I had a similar experience when I got some minor electrical part replaced. The kid who had to tighten the positive terminal on the battery, touched the AC pipe and the positive, shorting them. The AC pipe got a hole and bam! The AC gas came out like crazy.
