I think they have similar setups in Bangalore connected to the central traffic centre. I have seen some photos of the same in the newspaper. But I think they use it more for monitoring traffic flow than to capture offenders.
For the life of me, I can't understand why people who have a Bluetooth capability in their car won't pair and use the hands free.

This system has been implemented for quite some time in Hyderabad at majority of the large junctions. Infact they record the video as well and share it as proof if you have a concern that it is not genuine. Someone jumped the signal in my swift and I paid penalty of Rs 1000 + taxes.
Good to see that it is being implemented everywhere.
