As someone else mentioned, I feel its initial hype for all mall freaks. Nowadays I hardly see any blockage in Gopalan Mall in Mysore road, it used to be chaos once it opened.
I havent been to this mall, but I feel that they have done their bit by having 500+ car park. The usual problem is one whole lane of autos standing by waiting for customers and this entry exit goof up.

I stay exactly opposite to the new opened up MALL.
I started feeling the difference in the traffic and sounding horns already in our area.
Unlike forum it has only one side entrance, which make the drivers park their cars in the road opposite and just walk into the mall, instead of spending another half an hour to take a uturn and reach the entrance of the mall...
I feel its highly unplanned and getting harder day by day.
About the MALL..its good..
There is a food court called POLY NATION and a small play area for children with some video games and that small cars..and stuff.
other than that there is LIFESTYLE and SPAR...The crowd is good.

I have extensively been to 3 malls in Bangalore. Here is the rank:
  1. Forum: large, spacious, well maintained and the glory is the 11 screen PVR multiplex .
  2. Garuda: medium ratings, inauspicious mall (kid fell down from 2nd floor, lift crashed).
  3. Sigma: bad planning (buy movie tockets in basement parking & watch movie on 3rd floor ), nothing much.

I was a witness to this Mall Madness Fever when Home Town opened up near where i stay in Marathalli. As if the rush of vehicles from Innovative Multiplex wasnt enough torture, the mayhem from Home Town added to the chaos. Made me actually think they were giving away freebies to one and all who visited the store.

Life for me on a weekend has now been reduced to watching some movies at home, or dropping by some relatives place, obviously they dont stay in the so-called crowded areas.

if you have a sedan or bigger dont take it to the basement car park at lido (even ones that are size of swift are a danger) , it has the fancy double decker parking and wouldnt recommend leaving the keys with the parking attendants. From a very bad personal exp.

Cinema is NEAT!! next time me taking rick.

Big bazzar old madras road- parking 90% on OMR only. these malls and commercial complexes can block roads like this.no problem. but if a small hawker sells his ware for an hour or two during non peak hours in aretrial roads it is bad and primitive

actually govt is subsidizing these malls by allowing parking of their customers on roads

one note of caution based on personal experinaces in these malls

1.if you can buy the same thing outside especially in neighborhood store buy it there.it is not worth the pain and effort

2.if it a must that one needs to buy in these big malls and complexes

- check the bill carefully - probability of being billed for more is above 50%. dont believe the price tags put on display and also barcodes.they read differently when billed( went to big bazzar 4 times-billed more or cheated all the 4 times- 100% probability) they have the cheeck to say it old rate even though date shown is current one

-most of the time goods sold are of unknown brand quality made specifically for these stores alone and sold at the rate of popular branded product( these are not available out side except in these stores) so there is no chance of comparing the quality

- It is very rare that a popular branded product being sold at a rate less than market rate.very very rare..in my personal experiance i got popular branded products at much less rate from small shop fellows than these malls.

- these malls operate more on human psychology

a) nobody got time to check prices out side especially routine stuff

b) popular belief among educated that technology is fool proof-
true-but the person using tech is not

c) false prestige

d) it is very easy to cheat an educated guy with pomp and show

these are my opinions and not intended to offend anyone

Amazing. We start from complaining about how malls create chaos, and then start enquiring about each new one thats come up ! Hehe, maybe we can also start by mentioning the discounts available at various maills.
