He gesticulated from his car. I eased off and as we passed slowly he rolled down his window, I did too. he told me nicely, "the road is blocked, you will have to turn back too." He sounded very logical, as logical as the statement: if x loves y and y loves z, then x loves z.

Traffic gridlock happens regularly at this crossing because everyone wants to be first to cross. Nobody gives way. Two big roads cross here and traffic signal has not been installed yet.
From your location I see you are somewhere in NCR. Perfectly normal here.

Infact cars in the opposite direction often tells me of the bottleneck ahead. It is a regular feature on my daily route as well. Most of the times, a little patience sees you through. Maybe in 10 more mins than usual, but these guys want to spend those 10 mins trying to circumvent the traffic, not waiting.

I sometimes wonder, do they ever wonder if they actually saved any time?

I hope Mr Muktesh Chander's statement on FB makes sense...

PWD and road owning agencies fail to appreciate the usability of zebra crossings and adjoining curbs which hinder smooth walking. They are not at all disabled friendly. Even citizens are not aggressive in demanding such rights from indifferent authorities.

A scene from an intersection at Alapuzha on last Monday. This KSRTC Fast Passenger bus rushed in overtaking all the vehicles stopped by a traffic controlling cop to allow vehicles from the right to pass. The Tata Ace was the last of the lot, each vehicle taking a lot of time to pass through because of the electric post and the bus blocking the way.
The cop gave a mouthful to the Bus driver and noted down the bus details.
The cop can be seen partially hidden by the Ace. First time I am seeing a KSRTC bus driver at the mercy of the traffic cop.

Bad Driver with TBHP Sticker in Mangalore:

Spotted a Maroon shade Chevy Spark, KA 19 XX XX03 with "I Drive Safe" Sticker. Well there was nothing safe about your driving mate. First off, not wearing seat belts, which FYI has become mandatory also in Mangalore. At one instance when I drove parallel, I could see this person texting looking at his phone. Then he cut lanes and zoomed past, this time while speaking on the phone. All this on the busy stretch in front of St. Agnes College. No pictures since I was behind the wheel.

My request is please respect the traffic rules & other road users and also what "I Drive Safe" stands for.

My understanding is that some rules have been changed. Earlier the practise was for the Traffic Police (or State Police) to send the charge memo/notice to the M.D of KSRTC for such kind of offences. KSRTC any way had a team of lawyers who would just pay the fine at the court. The drivers had no responsibility to any one (just like every one else in KSRTC).

This rule was changed, now for traffic violations etc. the driver on duty in bus has to work on resolving the case. The notice comes on his name, and he can figure out on how to pay the fine or contest the case. And that means a bit of running around on his off-days/leaves.

Interestingly, this junction is one where there are regular drives to catch stop line violators. And Delhi Traffic Police has lately announced strict action against drivers who cut lanes.

Perhaps, to ask the trucker as to why was he obeying traffic rules?

OMG this is risk of the highest order! I don't think people expect trucks on wrong side of the road on the expressway.

Was it near some toll plaza?

This was about 2-3 km before the Pune toll (towards Mumbai). When I told this at the toll, they said that they had already informed the police patrol.

Bad riders and pillions.
Carrying things like pipes, ladders are quite common but towing a wheel barrow with the pillion sitting facing rearwards and holding it, is very rare.
Scenes from near Alapuzha.

I've seen a couple of bikers carrying washing machines. Wouldn't a washing machine weigh as much as the bike? Pretty bad thing to do to the centre of gravity.

This morning I saw a guy on an Activa carrying some paint buckets, painting material and best of all a Steel Painters Ladder that was worn on his body, covering him from head to waist , a total "Ladder on Frame" construction
Could not take a picture as I was on a scooter.
