Just goes to show that any car,on any tyre, can have an accident. No one can teach you on how to react to a certain accident scenario.I guess only one's skill and instinct can get you out of such a situation, unscratched or otherwise.Blow-out is one of the most dangerous situations one can ever be in.Tyres are made of rubber, filled with air. They'll get punctured, that's for sure.Unless one's running on run-flats,which is hard to come by anyway.Cars can be repaired/replaced,that's not the case with us humans,is it?Any person who gets out of an accident with the least injuries should thank God first and foremost.

If that was the condition of a Vectra, which has one of the safest interiors, imagine what would be the condition of a Lancer, supposed to have an aweful safety system.
That seems to be a horrific and destructive accident, luckily most were alright.

Hi Vikas,
Nice to hear you are safe... boy it was a miracle.. that U R unhurt and lucky that U were driving a very sound car..
But on the second thought.. what if there was some defect in the tyre..
Imagine if the same had happened in the euroean or US... U cud have sued some one for sure..
wasnt the Firestone fighting an accident case.. it was a fight between ford and firestone...

Drive safely dude...

The car cost about Rs.19lacs initially, the repair estimate also includes labor charges in this case which totalled to around 2-2.5 lac rupees. The insurance claims also have to be inflated to compensate for depriciation hence the big fat bill. Realtime cost of parts would have been about 7lacs.

thats what you expect from German engineering.

You feel safe when you are in one.

wonder why gm discontinued the opel brand in India.

Did they? I thought they were still selling the Corsa. At any rate they needed to, because they were selling products that had been discontinued several years earlier elsewhere.

corsa is the remains of what was once the german pioneer in India named opel.

when they were brought to India they were pretty much modern. GM sucked when they didnt bring in the new models on time. Otherwise they would have been competing with the likes of tata and hyundai.
