New Delhi-Ajmer-Jaipur-Kota-Jaipur-New Delhi
a total of 1400+kms in 38 hours. being alone felt real boring at times. rest of the time roads gave me good and smooth company.

Trivandrum to Bangalore on my Caliber. Covered around 730 odd kms in 20 hrs straight with little breaks in between whenever I felt like stopping. Purpose was to bring my bike to Bangalore. Rode solo & thoroughly enjoyed the ride although my bottom started hurting during the last phase of the trip.

How did you prepared yourself for such a long trip traveling all alone? Have the thoughts of vehicle getting punctured or breaking down or highway thefts or sleep/tiredness come across? How many kms it took to stabilize if such feeling have appeared. Wanna ask HVK too the same question. HVK, your thoughts if you managed to read this

Honestly, it makes a lot of difference, I am relieved when I am driving alone because I need not worry about others' needs. I am a frugal eater, so I feel no need to stop over for food, manage with whatever I have. I tend to drive longer, more into nights..... In any case, I repair punctures, etc myself without help, so that is also not an issue. Fatigue - solo or with company, I did not find any perceptible difference. I guess I am used to driving alone a lot.

Even last month, during my North East drive, I did the East-West Drive alone (but for company of kesri in the Kibithu-Guwahati stretch) alone - a distance of nearly 5,000 kms. Same with my c2c2c trip when I was alone for the last 5,000 kms (of the total 12,000 km trip).

Maximum I drove in one shot is about 800kms ( Hyd-Goa) in a single day.

I haven't ventured beyond that because IMO, anything beyond 600-700km a day takes the fun out of the drive and you end up stressed out and fatigued.

My longest distance solo was Delhi-Kanpur-Delhi (1040 km) in about 15 hours driving time (with a break in Kanpur, obviously).

Prior to that it was Delhi-Dehradun-Delhi (600 km) with a break in Dehradun and Delhi-Nainital (300 km or so).

I think fatigue is equally bad solo or with company. If you are tired, you are tired, alone or not. In fact, when I am very tired, I stop on the roadside and take a power nap for 10 minutes. Trust me, it helps. Not very safe, but safer than hitting someone on the road.

Longest solo drive would be a measly 140kms from Bangalore to Mysore. However, I've managed to do a little more on my bike, the longest solo ride I've done is around 360kms, Mangalore to Bangalore on my trusty RX100 !

Mumbai to Anand (Gujarat) 460 km in 8 hrs. Solo gets boring. I agree with HVK that having others in the car requires you to plan for and take care of their needs. But solo is damn boring.

I might do a Mumbai - Delhi - Mumbai solo soon.

I have done Bangalore to Pune and back quiet a few times all alone. That is around 890kms from my home in Bangalore to my other home in Warje,Pune. Have done non stop, night drives, sleep for a couple of hours and drive etc...

I share what hvkumar says.People or no people, fatigue sets in anyway.Have driven with people as well, but any day I would prefer driving alone. All me, my machine and Mark Knopfler for company. No need to worry about taking care of others and their preferences of eating, sleeping and what not.

Once I drove from Goa to Pune, dropped off my family and continued driving back alone to Bangalore. That is around 1320 kilometers, with a two hour sleeping at a petrol bunk in the night. Started from Goa by 11:00 AM, reached Pune by 6:00 PM,had a break for 30 minutes, started from Pune by 6:30, reached Bangalore by around 9:30 AM next day.

I did a solo ~1200 km round trip from Bangalore for the 2008 year-end/2009 new year holidays to Chitradurga, Hospet, Hampi, TB Dam, Aihole, Pattadkal, Banashankari and Badami. Detailed in my travelog here (A vacation drive: 30/12/08 - 02/01/09).
