Default SOLO LONG DRIVES - Maximum distance traveled

I have heard that solo long drives bring butterflies in stomach even for the experienced drivers till they settle down with few kms. I even remember reading in our car loving forum's travelogue about this uneasiness.

Request the guys who did that before to share their experience, distance covered & tips, if any

THe max distance i have covered solo one way is Bangalore to Hyd last year in my Baleno- 650 KMS.

around the half way mark, at one point i had a feeling that this may not be te best idea since i had started feeling a bit drowsy.

but then pulled over, had a chilled Limca, did some streches and was ready to move again.

the longest solo i have done two way was Delhi-Nainital-Delhi in one day- this was about 750 kms but with a 6 hour gap between the to and fro journeys.

Max distance is 650 km from Hyderabad to Banglore last year. Never felt that I was alone. Thoroughly enjoyed. I like solo driving.

Vizag to Chennai on the GQ - 800+ Km in my then brand new Palio D. But I took an overnight break in Vijayawada. Max speed of 120Kmph because it was a new car.

I was driving to Chennai to get the ICE installed. So no music as well..Hence passed the time by having a go, with horns blaring and head lights flashing, at the wrong side bike riders

Solo bike ride on my RE tBird in 2003 March did Hyd to B'lore and returned a day later.

sun burn hurts.
even my lips were scorched so bad inspite of a visor.

Fastest run was on return trip.
B'lore to Kurnool (about 380 kms) in a litle over 4 hours (about 270 minutes ).
Then my front tyre got a line tear due to a screw coming off from the mud guard.

Did the remainder 220 kms in about 6 hours.

remains my fave ride.

3600km. leh. but on bike

and yes, zero butterflies. total ecstasy infact. the pleasure of not hooking up data card and being "available" 24x7 - if atleast for 2-3 days is bliss. And solo means no coordination, shaanti apni pace, to (**(*( witht he world types!

4500 kms in an Alto from Hyderabad to Dwarka Gujarat and back solo in November 2006

With music to accompany and snacks to munch on it was a breeze. Will do it again anytime

Route was Hyderabad-Pune-Bombay-Baroda-Ahmedabad-Wadhwan-Wankaner-Rajkot-Gondal-Jamnagar-Dwarka-Porbandar-Junagadh-Somnath-Diu-Bhavnagar-Ahmedabad-Baroda-Surat-Bombay-Pune-Hyderabad

Exclamation Max distance covered by a solo drive

Max distance covered was around 550 km from Pune to Kolhapur and back. I don't like solo driving as it gets really boring and I start missing my chatterbox (wifey!!!)

There is an added danger of falling asleep!

I somehow feel kinda drowsy if I drive alone for a long time ,I'm not sure why this happens.May be because of the boredom. But if I have companions then I can drive almost any distance doable in a day.Longest I've driven alone would be around 150 kms and back same day .

Cheers,

Rajan
