Wheels & Tyres being STOLEN!

Pardon my ignorance, why wouldn't they steal the car as such? Why not the monograms like in Mumbai, why only the wheels? How much would they fetch these guys for the risk they're undertaking?

Yesterday was my day

Some moron flicked the wheel cap of my swift which was parked outside on the road, on saturday night. Noticed it when I was washing my car yesterday.

Attempt was made to flick the left wheel caps, they could only succeed to remove the rear one.

Need to secure my car with a tarpaulin cover.

Any guidance on how much with the wheel caps costs for swift vxi ?

Though we on Team-BHP may be just a very small number, but will it help if we can make sure our friends and relatives don't buy wheels from secondary market. Afterall, if buyers are reduced the risk against benefits might be a deterrent for such kind of stealing.

Well what can I say? Somebody flicked my tyre valve caps yesterday. All four of them. They were the metallic ones which fitted quite nicely I must say. After seeing this thread I can say I am glad that it was just valve caps and not the full wheel and tyre .

This happens in chennai too. It was almost a month back , on my neighbour hood flats , a flat owner had parked his santro with all 4 new wheels inside the flat's parking area. He was shocked to notice 2 of those wheels were missing the next morning and stones had replaced the tyres.

MGM wheel caps is about 400 odd per wheel cap.

this is exactly what happened to one of my college professors in year 1999 when he had called up everyone for extra classes on a Sunday and someone stole wheels/alloys from his car parked outside the college and left the car it on bricks.

This used to be common in Mumbai region also.
Damn petty thieves, got away with the wheels of this poor guys New Swift!

Don't say it used to be! My friend's 2005 Santro's wheels got flicked last week in Grant Road. South Mumbaites, beware!

I had a nut stolen from one of my wheels. Just one nut. Bought a matching replacement one but the chrome on that did not last long and stands out from the other nuts.

Doesnt bother me much now.

We weep about our car logos being flicked - in some areas of US, the entire wheels (alloys + tyres) are flicked and somehow end up for sale on online marketplaces. Just like victims of logo theft in India go to chor bazaars to buy them cheaply, the victims of wheel theft in US go to these online marketplaces to buy stolen alloys/tyres!
