About the alloys, you have mentioned that two alloys were damaged and one needs replacement and the other one has lots of scratches. I dont know how to get it checked but its possible that this alloy wheel will also have some damage and will be not be having its original strength ( some minor cracks not visible to human eye ). If at all there is some method of getting it checked, its advisable to do this.

Look for high speed stability also as the chassis was realigned.

Would suggest a rolling road test where your alignment, braking efficiency, tracking etc. are checked out and a report printed out of the same.

Can you please provide details about this test. Who does this test?. Is it a standard test by MASS?

It's also called the Hofmann safelane test, and checks certain parameters of your brakes (wheel drag, brake force, block difference, pedal pressure etc), suspension (roadholding comparison between left and right sides and each wheel), and sideslip check (for both axles, in mm/metre).

I get it done from Apra at Gurgaon, and it costs Rs.250. Don't really know whether it's a standard MASS recommendation, but it sertainly lets you know how your car is behaving on the road.

Thats very interesting, do they give any report of the test, with recommended and measured parameters.

Ain't they have already took too much time.

a) Not sure about car-o-liner.
b) They should not create any such for alloys.
c) Do add "Test high speed braking to check overall vehicle stability on highways." in wWhile Driving section.

However, color matching might not be an issue as colour of your SX4 ain't too much difficult to match up. Though the painted panel may be highlighted due to gloss and finish.

Best of Luck !!

Yes - you get a complete report in the form of a computer printout.

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident Rajiv, Thank God that you are safe. Seeing those pictures makes it painful even for me and so can understand the pain you must be going through. I wish the car a speedy recovery and I am sure it will regain its lost glory.

Regarding the system, time and again we are reminded that there is a dark and cruel underbelly even though we are fed stories of india shining. It does get frustrating and the system sucks..

Take care of your and your family health and leave it all to MASS to sort out the issues. If the service centre is slow, it may make sense in talking to Maruti directly considering that you stay very close to their HQ.

Only painting part is pending and rest all is done. They have promised me to deliver the car on thisSunday. Though it will be 3 weeks, by this sunday. They wasted eight days waiting for parts.

Though I am bit annoyed but still do not want to push or rough them as I do not want to give them a chance to say that I asked it in hurry.

Honestly speaking I hate to leave the car with Service center so long and giving them the chance to play with it .

Here is the updated checklist:

Idle Checks
  1. Boot Door and Lock Check, boot light
  2. Defogger Check
  3. Tail Lights, Reverse Lights, fog light check
  4. Check for Alloys and Tyres
  5. Check all gaps
  6. Check all electricals
  7. Check head lamps, high & low beam
  8. Check Fog lights
  9. Gap between bonnet and body
  10. Check all doors
  11. Check shade of painting, if it matches well, Both bumpers, and rear left
  12. Check fuel lid, open/close
  13. Check all the engine area, to see if anybody has changed anything there intentionally
  14. Check the dash area to see if anything is tampered
  15. Check for the condition of brake disc and drum, whether they are new
  16. Check for the condition of replaced parts, if they are new
  17. Check the two new alloys and tyres and place both in front
Checks while driving
  1. Check for any strange noise
  2. Alignment and Balancing check.
  3. Any wobbling after 60
  4. Check brakes
  5. Apply brakes to check if ABS is working
  6. Drive over speed breakers over couple of times to check suspension work/noise
  7. Drive over bad roads to check any noise or anything else
  8. Any other cabin noise or rattle.
  9. Test high speed braking to check overall vehicle stability on highways
Documents to be collected
  1. List of all the parts replaced
  2. List of all parts repaired
  3. Total bill
  4. Report for Chasis alignment
  5. Report for wheel alignment and balancing

Default updates

Unfortunately car is not yet delivered to me. There was some work pending.

BTW when I visited them today, car was on lift, so gave complete glance to the under body.

On the rear side , both shockers, and shaft parts were changed to new. Almost everything.

Also I observed some of the welding area was not painted from the inner side. They should have painted it with grey primer used for this purpose on the inside.

They did it promptly. Also I saw one wire on the left rear side of the brake area broken. On questions, they told me that it ABS wire and they are working on it.

Denting/Painting job was looking good on lift. Will check it in sun light tomorrow.

Also one mud flap was missing, was actually broken. They will put new as part of insurance, as it is OEM.

Also just realized the importance of going for high end car with all extra like alloy, mud flap, fog lamp, etc etc. In case of accident you are insured for them as well. Two of the alloy were damaged and changed under insurance.

Good to hear about the progress in your car.

Alloy wheels, music systems etc bought from outside and fitted in the car can be added as accessories in the insurance.
