The Panjagutta flyover is completely choked and I think the Jam extends even till begumpet.
I was stuck for half an hour in the Jam.
Traffic police are working to pump out the water with a genset.
I reached half-an-hour late to office and to my surprise, still got the parking.
So I assume that people coming from Secunderabad are also stuck in the Jam
If you can, then take Khairatabad-Roadno:1- road no-12 route to Hitech city.
I saw your post that day and decided to use KCP Junction - Road No.1 - Road No. 10 to go to Apollo but when I started at 11:00 from Punjagutta, I stuck to Road No. 3 - Road No. 2 route and found no jams or water stagnation and with average traffic. Must appreciate the Traffic Police and GHMC for having taken fast action.

Reckon will stick to whisper valley route for this month whilst going back home.

My phone GPS showed an unbeilevable stat for yesterday evening drive back :-

Max Speed : 70kmph
Total Time : 49 mins
Distance Travelled : 20 kms
Average Speed : 25.4kmph
A part of the road had caved in yesterday at Masab Tank resulting in traffic pile up from all directions.

Coming from Lakdi Ka Pul, turn right towards Banjara Hills and just 10 metres down the road, the right most and the middle lane had caved in, in front of the turning to Chacha Nehru Park. I was stuck in the jam for 40 minutes and ended up eating cold Haleem which I had parcelled from Sarvi. Should have eaten it in the car!

This jam was a one off situation.

Was this because of the absolutely ferocious rain a little before midnight on Aug. 1?

There was just a drop or two when I started my car but by the time I got my car out of the office car park and especially by the time I hit Old Bombay highway, visibility had reduced to a few feet with wipers at maximum speed. Torrents and torrents of rain flying into the windshield almost horizontally. It was thrilling, scary, surreal and gone by the time I hit NH9. There's something about Old Bombay highway. It rains much more heavily there usually, perhaps because of the greenery in HCU.

I use the "paid parking" of Chowmohalla Palace if I am driving and sometimes a friend's house which is near the famous chaat and idli bandis near the fountain.

Please do tank up your vehicles.

This is just in case petrol pumps decide to call it a holiday due to the bandh call given out for monday, 08-Aug-2011.

I am sure no one will like to stand in queues for fuel on sunday evening or tuesday early morning.

Guys,

I noticed that they are building a divider all along Rd # 10, Banjana Hills. Therefore pray that you don't have a slow moving truck or auto in front of you, if you want a peaceful drive.

Sigh, I wonder what is causing the cops to go on an overdrive with building dividers where they are not needed. All such new dividers have led to traffic snarls wherever there is a U turn.

This apart, it has become a pain to drive on the DC road, especially at the Junction close to Vasantha Emerald Gardens on the road leading to Cyber Motors. The addition of a new road leading to that Junction, apart from the new divider on the PBEL road, are the main culprits for this jam.

I am dismayed to note that even the Whisper Valley road has a bad stretch near the turning to Rama Naidu studios.

I think it's just a case of too many people riding/driving on the wrong side of the road at peak hours and jamming up everything. It happens a *lot* here. The solution is some sort of temporary divider if you ask me. It should be in effect from 8:00/8:30 am to 10:00/10:30 am and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Or road-widening, which ain't gonna happen in B. Hills.

+1. I saw that only today. So if politicians and film actors can't get good roads to drive on, what chance do we stand? The way roads break up after just one rain is just so disheartening. It was better earlier - they would go slowly over the entire season. Now all it takes is one solid downpour. Such apathy!

As most of you know Hyderabad Traffic Police is quite active on Facebook through their page Hyderabad Traffic Police | Facebook

Following is the latest status message
Quote:
MESSAGE TO ALL FB FRIENDS..FROM CV ANAND,ADDL CP...There was a debate about English ,rude replies, formal language etc which was quite interesting.Pl understand that if we stick to purely formal language, then our replies will be."noted, thank you for the feedback, our officers will work on these....". Just see the replies of chennai or Delhi traffic police ,they are given by constables who have been given some standard sentences.
Here senior officers like addl cp.,dcp, inspectors are answering .that's why u r seeing replies which are more dynamic, emotional and interactive. Of course,we shud not cross decency and legality and I ve given orders to all to adhere to these norms.some of you are abusing us...one individual used the word ******* HTP,someone else said **** them, absolutely useless.etc.I appeal to all to maintain decency in communication
THANK YOU!
HTP in the last few months has helped in the changing the scenario on ground and we as responsible citizen of the twin cities of Hyderabad/ Secunderabad should also show our support to the positive changes.

Cheers

Guys,
Main road at Nallakunta in front of fever hospital has caved in. So take alternate routes if going that side of the city.
This happened two days back. Thought will post here. Pics here

The traffic violation fines have just gone up. Please be aware of the new fines which are available here Official Blog of Hyderabad Traffic Police!: Government Order 108 Increasing Fine Amount on Traffic Violations

The new fine amounts are good enough to cause a pinch to pocket of the violator. Just hope that this doesn't breed corruption

Yesterday saw traffic all across Hyderabad getting grid-locked right through the day and by evening peak hours, the situation was really out of hand.

I started from Pacific Medical Centre at 6:30pm and got stuck just after Jubilee Hills Check Post. At LVPEI I observed Road No. 2 to be jammed and also Road No. 14 so took Road No. 10. I also avoided City Centre Mall, Taj Krishna, KCP Junction as they are anyway notorious for jams, by using Road No. 9 and Road No. 4.

It took me 45 minutes and this route to reach home :

Today morning the traffic police did not allow Madhapur bound traffic to turn left at the end of Jubilee Hills Rd #36.

Everyone was forced to go straight.
The road had two deep cuts and they caused a traffic pile up as well.

Luckily I was on my bike. So did not suffer the jam.

When I reached the Hi Tech City - Kukkatpally road there was a long jam.
Instead of turning left like everyone else, I turned right.
Empty road till the U Turn. A little bit of traffic, but rolling along fine on the return trip.
This detour had enabled me to take the flyover.

Just a small jam at its end till the right turn into Deloitte Drive.

I had an exactly opposite experience yesterday evening.

Gachibowli-Mehdipatnam-Himayatnagar route took me 40 mins door to door last evening during peak hours (6:30pm-7:10pm)

Think its time to stop completely the Whisper Valley-> Film Nagar->Rd.No.10-> Khairtabad road to home especially now since Rd.10 has a divider all through which is choking up traffic even more.

I am loving the Tolichowki and Mehdipatnam route. Traffic is there but, always moving....

DC road being in tatters, I took the left turn at Filmnagar Jn to proceed via Whisper Valley to office.

Contrary to my expectations of a smooth drive, the old Bombay highway was choc-a-block with traffic after the Raidurg Police Station. It took me 12 minutes to take the right turn towards Hitech city road, instead of the normal 2 minutes.

I am not sure if this is a regular state of affairs at 930 am, or was today an exception? What say, guys?
