Most of the cars I've owned/driven in India doesn't handle well at high speeds, so usually I cruise between 110-120. One don't feel safe on Indian roads after that speed, thanks to car companies for no front side air bags, no disc brakes, smaller tyres etc. and courtesy Highway department, the humps on highways, potholes, cows, trucks driving on left lane etc.

Pretty much in any other developed country I maintain 130 most times.

Cool depends on age

'Cruising speed' also depends on age. When I was younger I never 'cruised', that is I press the full throttle till possible, slow down when necessary and again give full throttle.

Now I really 'cruise' at 70 kmph on my Civic-AT. I am more safe, stress-free, my car wears down slower, etc. And as a bonus I save money, I get 16.5 kmpl on a 1,800 cc AT car .

Am I wrong in my assumption?

You're absolutely right hrag.

While I have gently nudged my Baleno upto 165 km/h (long-term break-in)
the comfortable cruising speed at which I do the Mumbai-Pune expressway is 105-110 km/h.

Here's are a couple of pics,
one in the daytime at 124 km/h in 5th gear, engine turning at 3,250 rpm.

and one in the night, at my comfortable cruisin' 107 km/h (vertical needle) in 5th gear, engine relaxing at 2,750 rpm.

Both pics were snapped by me, driving alone on the expressway, with my Nokia N73 mobile phone, back in 2006, when I was 49 years old.

Right now it is 80 KMPH for me. I have never driven at 3 digit speeds so far.

Interesting thing about the needle pointing straight up for cruise. For me it is 80 kmph and thats the exact Speed I do on highways. My car feels great and glides at that speed. Occasionally I push to 100, but only when the road is very empty.

Voted for 121-140 kmph. 135-140 seems to be my natural speed in Baleno. For maruti 800, its 90 kmph.

My Esteem is very comfort and easy to cruise 120-140Kmph, very occasionally on Highways with clear view and Day time sometimes I push to 170Kmph
100-120 Kmph is my normal driving speed

140'ish is mostly stress free in my Cedia. Any higher needs a bit more concentration.

I just voted for 101- 120 km/h . i think that s the ideal speed for our indian highway s because there is alway s work going on the road and the odd chakra/tempo/bike coming out of the crossing or wrong side is alway s the risk !! The mum-pune and vad-ahd exp 's are exception s !!

I feel relaxed & comfortable at speeds around 70, hence voted for 60 - 80 km option.

IMHO, it is dangerous & stressful to cruise at speeds above 100 km/hr in our roads, even if it is an express way.

I think its' illegal to cross 120 km/hr in any Indian Highway, even in Middle East, the limit is 120km, anything above 130 can attract hefty fines.

But you have voted for 180-200 kmph as comfortable cruising speed.. definitely you have opted that instead of 120-140 kmph

Voted for 81-100kmph, feel very comfortable at this speed with the windows rolled and the a/c at min setting and fresh air intake.

Have always got the best mileage figures by doing this
