Its started. First sighting today.
I take the stretch adjacent to ghazipur, under the NH, and join at the last redlight before the NITHE turning. 4 camps have come up. Time to leave early, and change route as well.
Sigh!

^^ Which means that the buggers will hit Gurgaon soon. And exiting from Cybercity and going towards Delhi, I don't think there is an alternate route to avoid their camp.

I just hope it does not rain for the time that these guys are around.

Madcon 3 initiated.
On this side, all secondary and tertiary routes are closed. I pity the people who head out after 9 to commute towards ghaziabad.

Absolute Madness on NH24, and adjoining roads.
The trucks have shown up, as have the bikes with three onboard.
Going on the wrong side of the highway, reversing in the middle of a jam, 200 million gigawatts music, cutting across, leaving cables dangling on the road after pulling them off their mounts to let the truck through, self managing of traffic signals.
All the while the supposed solution by the cops is impotent, as is the usual in UP, only more so in this period.
Seriously, what is wrong with the Traffic, and other cops in UP? The most laid back, i dont give a damn Ive EVER seen.

Absolute anarchy. This is not faith, this is just a bunch of local useless lads with nothing to do hopping onto the trucks for a free ride.

The actual faithfuls I've seen walking along IN the designated lanes, and you can see the intent on their faces.

Looks like today is the last day of this madness. Saw some of the 'shivirs' getting dismantled on NH-8 today morning. Well until next year again.

Guys,

Today is the LAST day of the season, so chill untill next year. Really hope that this season winds up without any major problems in NCR today.

Cheers!

Finally the madness comes to an end. The traffic snarls being caused by these people on NH8 were over whelming. I even saw some of them scaring away motorists with baseball bats.
Phew, it is a relief that it has come to an end.

Angry Glad it's over !

Moving towards Gurgaon, I crossed Dhaulakuan at around 0830 in the morning and just after crossing Army Hospital (R&R) , stopped at the Subroto Park AF Station red light because the light was, well, red.

Soon enough, there was commotion from behind, and there emerged a guy in his Kanwariya team colours, wielding a stick and whistle and screaming away at the top of his lungs, thumping the bonnets of the cars that had stopped at the red light and forching them to move to make way for a Mini Truck (a Tata 407) which was blaring deafeningly loud devotional songs set on the tune of popular Bollywood numbers. Apparently the 407 was in some sort of hurry to make it to its destination, and in doing so very brazenly jumped the red light.

Commuters on the other side of the road, for whom the light was green and were hoping to make it to Subroto Park of R&R Hospital were very rudely stopped by this stick wielding, self styled traffic policeman.

And of course, all this was happening right under the nose of two traffic policemen stationed at the red light who instead of doing anything, chose to be mute spectators.

Glad that this chaos on the roads is over.

Cheers !

The religious sentiments is one thing but expecting the general population to be fine is one more.

Quite surprising that we also have a similar kind of procession called Palki which travels via Pune. (http://www.maharashtratourism.net/fe...-festival.html)
The comparison between Palki@Pune and Kavariya@Delhi is Day and Night.
I am not surprised that crime rate in the North is so high ...

And it's started..... I am told that NH8 was horrible today, especially near the Ambience Mall.

Thankfully, managed to avoid it today but for how long ?

When is this nonsense ending? The Delhi-Gurgaon expressway was a mess today.

I have had to straightaway add 50 minutes to my 15-20 minutes commute because of these people. Had this been any sort of developed nation, the government would have been sued using my roads for vote bank appeasement.
Its just becoming more and more horrible every year. From this year onwards, the "organizers" have decided half the road is not enough. They have cordoned off an entire 7-8 km stretch right from noida through mayur vihar to ghaziabad. Just brilliant.
Yesterday, these monkeys decided to take a truck loaded with a about 50k Watts worth of speakers, blasting at 11, through the delhi-noida lane(that opens from mayur vihar to Indian oil, stopping every 10 meters to dance. While there were about 40 cars trailing behind them.

No wonder anybody who gets a chance gets out of this country.
