Did 140 Ks (speedo) on my RD350 but the true speed won't be more than 120.
Touched 120Ks (speedo) on my Zen MPFi 2001. Beyond that it starts to vibrate. I mean it feels like engine is vibrating not from body, also ran out of straight stretch. But I heard zen should be able to do 140 (speedo) easily. Any tips on this ? What say Satya ?

a mpfi zen should do 140 kph on an empty stretch if its properly maintained.

so if yours is not ,then better get it checked at an authorised service center.

thisis wat my zen does

Default 120 Shogun, 175 Esteem

I have maxed out my Suzuki Shogun on Palm Beach Road and on the Eastern Express Highway (both Mumbai) ... Speedo read 120, not sure how much error was in that !

Stock top speed was just past the 105 mark, but I had the engine bored and an oversize piston + a 3.5" rim with an RD350 Nylogrip tyre fitted behind, 3" rim with a Zapper tyre in front. Needed a few extra links in the chain cuz the wheel base had to grow by about an inch to fit the rear wheel ... also need a CBZ front mud guard to accomodate the 3" Zapper ! That gave me the grip and the circumfrence to touch 120 !

Touched 175 on the Mumbai Pune Expressway in my 16V MPFI Esteem in 4th gear... surprisingly, it only gets upto 160 in 5th ! Everything stock so far... planning on a K&N free flow cold air intake and a free flow exhaust apart from alloy rims and a body trim kit ... let's see if I can make her do 200 ! B-)

I've done 115 on my stock-mileage tuned Suzuki Shogun... nothin much done to the bike... just a road king back-rim, MRF Moto-D tyres front and back and a fiero chain sprocket which is comparatively smaller than the original shogun's giving it more initial... 0-30kmph in 1st gear which is like 5-10kmph more than the normal two strokes...

how safe is all this on indian roads guys! sorry to be a wet blanket but we over 40 types tend to be a bit protective about the "young ones". just make sure you got enough braking distance.

Cool

@ navin - you are dayum right boss - these speeds are really dangerous on indian roads - but doing it just once with all possible precautions to test your cars limit is ok.

@ adya -

i know ...each time i touch those speeds i am risking my life...because there is little that i can do to prevent disaster from taking place .. its a fact that i get over once the needle crosses 100 ...

navin boss,

you are right but it depends on when & where you do it
and also how you do it

meaning on empty road at speeds of 200kmph you are more safe than at 60kmph on crowded road also one has to consider the state of tyres & brakes

so considering all these parameters myself & hkanitkar were doing it safe (the road was empty & both cars were in good condition also there was no rain so the road was dry)

@hkanitkar : dude it all starts with JUST ONCE
