Taking pics of speedo, pedaling the car too hard, going beyond the vehicle's limit - just too freaky in Indian context. Imagine 160kmph odd on a Zen / Santro.
What are we trying to prove over here? Are we not trying to show off unnecessarily?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but 184.....you don't have a digital speedo do you?

Mods, by the way, with Scorp1 & Abhibh, isn't it time we filtered some of the information given out on this thread?

Done 205 KMH in my dad's C220. On NH 8.

Done 180+ in my Laura on NH 8, It's not that Laura can not go past that, but haven't got chance to do more than that..

the vehicle in question is has a bosch pump and 255/65 pirelli scorpion pzero tyres we take geraring/speeds at rpm and lot of other facts in consideration, tata gives grade 'a' bs111 workshops a host of softwares apart from thier engineers joining us in case we have made some improvements to thier product,
we have done some engine porting/pump-calibration/exhaust job+we remove the cat the safari(tcic)is capable of surprising many on top end.
so i think with the right equipment, tata support and having years of experience in fine tuning safari and running a well equipped tuning shop should justify my 'claims'
please drop in when you are in bangalore fix up with dominic or physco and drop in if the tata engineers are free i will replicate the exercise with thier v-box and that should put your 'doubt'to ease.

I have reason to believe that this gentleman should be taken very seriously.

I would believe what he says. Besides, whats so unbelievable about that if the stock Dicor does an indicated 150 (real 140?) at 2300-odd RPM at which point it is restricted? I'm sure Dr Fate can tell us which of the five wires that go into the Gearbox have to be cut to free up the remaining 700 rpm on 5th - the vehicle is then good enough for 160+ speeds.

The question is - will Dr Fate share?

thanks for the compliment steeroid but my claim is on a tcic safari with a v-box confirmed(by various auto mags)143
firstly i belive in good running in for atleast 5000kms prefferably through a bosch fip(tvs is too lazy).
after my second service my vehicle was running on a pirelli scorpion pzero 255/65 on 8j alloys which endows it with a slightly taller gearing,
if you go though the gearing and final drive specs of tcic and dicor you will find it similar so theoretically with the right tuning a few MINUTES later you can achive a similar top speed between a stock dicor and tricked tcic!!
dicor as stated above goes to the top speeds much faster, the trick in tcic(well run,non abused)is to keep the throttle glued in 4th till 4000rpm and shift to 5th and see the needle surge to well...atleast the claimed speed,

few things you can do is the head job(the acceleration is cleaner and there is a noticable increase of power in the tourque spread)
remove the 'cat'in case of a bs3 vehicle
after removal reset the pump and set it to a particular setting(individual preference)
the tcic can surprise you!!!
more over its what every diesel owner(old school)will tell you and magazines dont practise...TO CONDUCT PERFORMANCE TESTS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS RUN ATLEAST 10000KMS.companies always have asked thier customers to draw conclusions on performance(atleast diesels)please take out any road tests(not long term)the vehicles have hardly run a few hundred or a couple of thousand kms when they use the v-box,remember the overdrive pic(long term road test)in which a indica(non turbo)is seen hitting 160+(136 on v-box when tested new)and the testers claimed they derived pleasure seeing premium car owners getting zapped by them!!!and their qualis seeing 145!
as of dicor firstly there is a mechanical throttle governor apart from electronic one when one of my friends managed to break one(i dont know how!!)he ended up with a blown engine so i request restraint as tata motors is not allowing anyone to open and see what broke and how,
iam expecting dicor software(right now handled only by tata)very soon(both car and TL 4*4 new)after seeing how reliable and safe the package is we will share it with others....please start a suv thread there is so much to talk...

Tata Indigo TDi 2006: 140 kmph
Tata Sumo 1996 : 110 kmph*

Ford Ikon 1.3 : 130 kmph
Toyota Innova : 135 kmph

Hyundai Santro 1.1 : 130 kmph
Maruti 800 mpfi : 120 kmph

All speedo readings and with stock engine tuning and tyres.

* Sumo's top speed of 110 kmph was around four years ago. Now can touch 100 kmph only, but need lot of time and road length to achieve that. The best part is that there is very little chance of getting a speeding challan in the city, as by the time you reach 60 kmph you encounter some traffic or the other.

155Mph (250KMPH) BMW 335i with sports package and speed limiter lifted from 130MPH to 155MPH... Atlantic city motor speedway!!

close ratio Manual, 300Hp, upgraded DSC.

155Mph (250KMPH) BMW M3 on pocono speedway...

SMG, 333HP, Limited slip diff,

I actually loved the 335i compared to the M3 even though M3 is 333Hp compared to 300HP of 335i with only sports package, but the 335i is a twin turbo with 30lb-ft of torque compared to M3s 26lb-ft, loved the accelaration of the 335i in 3rd and 4th gear.

130mph (210KMPH) in my BMW 330i, its a sedan & with triptronic, but still the accelaration from 0-60(96kmph) is about 6.3 sec

150KMPH in a ford escort 1.8d on linking road which connects airport road & kormangala (Bangalore)... i know!!

175KMPH in a skoda octavia 1.9Tdi on the same road.

All the above were speedo reading

You just need to drive the new 3 series you'll fall in love with it... i wish i cud put up the pics but dont have much privileges... you can see 1 in my profile pic
