No Anil. Not there. This tapri is just ahead of DLF. Near that mandir.

Well, there was some bash (but not the usual muscle power), which IMO any proud owner of a car would have done. He was actually asking people not to create a ruckus and not to block traffic unnecessarily!

Beat this. He has a Fabia, 2 Swifts, 1 Safari, 1 Bolero and a couple of MM540/550's! Thanks to IT expansion and subsequent land acquisition, people from the initial "village" have become super rich. Now, with nothing to do, he opened a tapri/road side hotel.

So what happened afterwards ? Was the truck stationary because it was stopped by the cops for violating the 7-11 ban ?
One reason for Friday's jam could also be unhindered HCV traffic.
The truck was stationary as he (truck driver) was having his breakfast in that tapri/hotel.

About the Friday jam, I heard, there was a minor accident on the flyover (invloving a local on a bike) and that lead to the long jam.

I just saw this.
Some miscreants in Hinjewadi have hurled massive rocks on the cars parked inside the company premises. Many cars have been damaged. I personally saw a Figo with its front glass completely smashed and huge damage to the hood. :( Other affected cars include Altos and a Fortuner too.
Prime suspects are schoolkids. Complaints to the school authorities in the past have fallen on deaf years.

Ojas, is this in your company?
How ridiculous is this? Absolutely disgusting. I think, its time for the company people to report the matter to the cops. Kids or no kids, this certainly is'nt the way to go.

Wonder what school these kids go to, and what has become of our education system, where schools turn a deaf ear to such uncivilised behavior!

Oh. When i read 'I Saw this" in your opening post i thought you read it somewhere.

So you actually saw it from the vantage point that you have in your office.

This is ridiculous. Sadly nothing can be done other than the owners claiming insurance. Do not see any action being taken against anyone.

They are the kids of HJW locals. And no, I didnt see it from my "vantage point" ( like this term!)... Rather i was out to get something from a colleague's car which I chanced upon it.
Those kids are certainly (mis)using their parent's new found prosperity to the hilt. Many dozens of them blatantly use vehicles in school uniform, no less. They have no sense of self preservation and go bonkers on the roads near our premises, right under the noses of the cops. Utter yobs fostered by utter anarchy.
I am pretty sure nothing will happen to anyone, because this is not the first incident, and nothing happened in the past.

Got this email from HR this morning regarding traffic changes in Hinjewadi which are suggested by Pune traffic police. This is in effect from today on trial basis for 15 days.
There is no mention of not using flyover during evening time.

1. During morning shift, between 8.00am to 10.00am, all vehicles going from Hinjewadi towards Wakad will be banned from using the Overbridge (Flyover) in the Wakad chowk.
2. Between 8.00am to 10.00am and 6.00pm to 8.00pm, all company buses and heavy vehicles will be banned from using the road between Shivaji chowk- Hinjewadi- Wakad chowk- Wakad village.
3. All company buses coming to and going from IT park must use either Shivaji chowk- Bhumkar Vasti – Kala Khadak route or Mezz9- Marunje T junction- Bhumkar Vasti- Kala Khadak route.

Finally the Kumbhakarn awakens.

Saw the mail first thing in the morning. What a great way to start the day! I think it will take about a week for people to change their routines. Hope this yeilds more comfort than confusion.

I personally will take more than a month to understand and implement it as all I know is Mezza9... and i'm totally ignorant to other names - Shivaji chowk - Bhumkar Vasti – Kala Khadak - Marunje T Junction....etc.

Traffic Department on their part are trying various options with the limited road resources that we have. The authorities need to wake up and create alternate routes.

Coming back to the proposed trial run it would be interesting to see how it works out. I am confused about the first point:
In the morning the overbridge would be used only from Wakad towards Hinjewadi. So does this mean that the bridge would be one way and then the folks coming from the bridge merge into the correct lane after the bridge or is the plan to make it one way all the way till Phase 1 chowk?

Based on this trial run i guess i would have to change my return route and not follow Mezza 9 as now that would be filled with company buses with major jam at Bhumkar chowk. It would be interesting few days. Some change from the daily routine.

Looks like the orange route is out for me especially for next 15 days.

I guess during morning time, the choice for HJW-Aundh traffic would be to go to the flyover and take the service road below the flyover to go to Mycar and come back the other side. This is like a 2 km detour.

Now the interesting thing is, during both commute times, the traffic in the lesser flow direction will face either
1. Bikes + Cars in the flyover-HJW stretch or
2. Heavy bus traffic in the Mezza9/Shivaji chowk-Kalakhadak underpass stretch.

About time, reversible lane system is given serious thought.

Huge traffic jams near the Ginger Hotel Flyover, probably due to above reason, the left turn after the my car. The jam spilled on to the highway obstructing the vehicles towards Mumbai. The jam must have picked up by now, people who started after 10 should be taking the left at Wakad.

They were 9-10th std youngsters as per what I heard. When the security ran towards the spot, they threatened to rain large rocks on the security as well, if they tried to intervene.
Two cops on a bike had shown up, I am not sure what happened after that.

Me ekdum ignorant too!

But lemme try to hazard a guess here. People will correct me if I am wrong.

Shivaji Chowk : What we popularly know as Hinjewadi Chowk. If you go straight while coming from Infy/Cogni side, you will reach the Ginger Hotel underpass.

Kala Khadak : The underpass from which you see Hotel Ginger.

Bhumkar Vasti : The area between Shivaji Chowk and Kala Khadak.

Marunje T-Junction : Chai ki tapri at Marunje. <j/k> I dont really know what that is.

This may have been discussed before, but I may have missed it. What is reversible lane?

Massive jam at Kalakhadak. Went all the way almost to the start of the expressway and found vehicles spilling over to the highway on the ginger hotel side as well finally came all the way to wakad bridge which was stuffed as usual but at least moving.

Me thinks it means that the Wakad flyover could be used as a oneway in the direction of peak hour traffic. So in the mornings you cannot use it to go to Wakad and in the evenings you cannot use it to go to HJW. In a way officialising what is happening at the moment. But telling the people in the correct lane beforehand that they should take another road.
