Yep. The police will call the thief and inform him about the car's owner and the next day you will find that the car has been founf abandoned in some remote place. Police will say that there are no eye-witness to this and hence cannot trace the thief.

@ GTA, I salute your persistence in trying to catch the culprit. I dunno how many of us would have the same guts/motivation/persistence to go behind the criminal and that too for more than a year now!

Wish you success!

PS1: Take every step with extreme caution.

PS2: Post something on this thread once in a week/fortnight so that we know you are still good

Now why was the car abandoned all of a sudden, was the thief tipped off that he is been tracked, and if so, who tipped him about it. Very fishy isnt it ?????

This is the Modus operandi of 'the Team', when things become too hot to handle for accomplices in police, an alert is passed on to the culprits and the vehicles are found abandoned (usually at nearby locations) with no sign of wrong doers. And yes, the car jackers still have to give 'cut amount' to their partners in 'law enforcement' as service charges for the information.
BTW : No update from GTA. Is everything alright ?

Well, is he alright?
Does anybody know him personally here on this forum?

If yes, please check.

Its a little strange to see him disappear from the forum all of a sudden!
Stay connected guys, and stay safe.

I was keeping my patience but I do wish he's safe out there, where ever he is. Life's more valuable than a car.

Now at this stage come to think of it; the entire stuff.

What started out as just a lark, caught on and everyone was eagerly into it hoping for a happy ending.

The theft happened on the fifth of January 2010. More than an year later gtabombay joined Tbhp, the posting of the story commenced as was mentioned in his introductory post.

The thread got five star rating and was cruising along merrily and everyone was awaiting a happy ending. But suddenly there were comments as to the entire story being a fantasy of sorts, and predictions on an ending on All Fools Day etc. gta appeared annoyed on all these.

The insurance claim had long been passed and he would have already received the paisa by now.

gta is a software engineer by profession, having another car the Petra. This is his only thread other than the introductory one. Why he is not surfacing in the forum is really of concern.

Hope you are fine. Take care.

No, dont think it was cooked up. The level of detail was amazing. It just appears that the OP was a very thorough and persistent person. That guy Nasrat is real enough. The stolen Pajeros are real enough.

Sorry folks, for the long absence.
Last one and half months were very uneventful.
In my last post I had mentioned how we were very close to nabbing Nasrat and his gang. He got wind of this operation and fled Mumbai. The good news is that he is still in Pratapgarh (UP). He will take some time to return, because his operations in Mumbai is disrupted. He will have to find a new place from where to operate. Mumbai has been free of Nasrat for almost 50 days!

The story is not over yet, either he will come back or we will have to go there.

Good lord you're alright. You made all of us worry. Just leave it now and let the cops do their job. Hire a watchman for you car. I know people in Mumbai who do that.
