| Am sorry but I fail to see the logic in the MV Act. We do have such acts passed without much scientific evidence. I also dont see the logic of the fello passenger being able to see the traffic, shuts up. Tell me, how many friends/wives shut up on seeing the traffic? ) And it is legal in western countries to have car phone installed and no one ever complained or there is any scientific evidence to point otherwise. I use Jabra blue tooth headset always in the car and found it very useful. In fact I have taken telephonic interviews while driving too. My boss calls me while driving to work because he has an hour long drive and makes the best use of it to do all teleconferences. BTW, I never got caught for this in Bangalore in the last two years of my driving. Is Bangalore police selective in applying the rules or I am just plain lucky? Nainar |

| I guess this is a 'cliche'. There are many in this forum & outside who haven't been caught for having non-KA registration. If they were caught, it was for breaking traffic rules.

| I usually take out the phone and put it on loudspeaker mode if im alone in the car. Otherwise, I dont pick it up and check at some traffic signal/ stop and call that person after I reach home/ office. I followed an innovative practice of using the cell while driving. I stuck a 1 inch by 1 inch strip of 2 sided tape on the center of my steering wheel. And stick the phone on it. When it rang, i would simply press the loudspeaker button and talk normally. Since it was at my chest level, no problem in hearing or being heard. I stopped this though since my steering had got a bit sticky and messy. ![]() |

| Senior - BHPian | Bluetooth headsets sure help while driving. I got my RAZR with the Bluetooth in 2006,and I really didn't bother playing around with it. Later this year,I decided to start using it,and trust me,its a boon. My car being a stick-shift,its crazy to have to hold the phone and change gears. With the traffic in Houston being absolutely crazy, its risky to take your eyes off the road for even a second. OT: Once I started using my BT,my wife followed suit. And now her main requirement when get her a new car,is to have a BT enabled system that lets you take calls over the car's ICE. Here comes the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer.Pretty good stuff on it! |

| Got caught once once by the Bng police for talking on mobile. PC asked me to come and pay 300rs fine with receipt, and then asked for 100rs and let me off. The next week got a new mobile and a bluetooth headset. After that, when driving, its either the BT or I just use the speakers if I have a call I need to answer. Else I just let it ring and call back later. |

Well, give me a proper number before you say that. I ride a non-KA bike here, and even with all the required documents including road tax, i have to stop and display the same to them. And yes, i even have my helmet strapped on when riding, so it cant be that they stop me just to say 'Hi'. If your talking about non-KA 4 wheelers, then yes, i agree with you.

| I installed my new JVC KD AVX33 HU in my Verna yesterday , and the HU has Bluetooth integrated in it and comes with a mic , which enables me to accept calls without taking my eyes off the road , obviously the audio is routed through the ICE Speakers and there is no disturbances at the other end ...yep i use a Nokia 6300 Phone. |

| Bad me! I do take calls while driving but keep the conversations very short. Luckily, never got caught in Bangalore... On that odd day in Cochin, I got caught and paid the fine.. Two cops were riding a bike and smiled and stopped me.. asked me "Why do you think you are stopped?" (I was driving the KA regd car). I answered "Yes, I was talking on the phone". OT: Driving a non-KL regd vehicle is not really a problem in Kerala |

| I take calls in the city limits as most of them are from the office & the speed at which you are driving is very low. I hook bluetooth on my "left" ear it's not visible to outsiders as my right ear is innocent ![]() |
