Default Drunk driving claims 2 in Delhi

In the Wee hours of sunday 2 people died and 2 were injured when they crashed near India gate at high speed. All 4 were drunk and the car was close to 180kmph when it crashed(According to Police and TOI)
Alcohol plus 180kmph claims two young lives in car crash-Delhi-Cities-The Times of India
Police is also speculating racing

Though the 180kmph figure is obviously bloated by the police, there is no doubt that every ear countless lives are snuffed out due to drunk driving.
The two who lost their lives were in the back seat, while the driver and the co passenger were saved by Airbags and seatbelts.

It was also written in times of India that the car wa so badly damaged that the crane even could find a proper place to hook the car for towing purposes.

It is clear that the two passengers in the front were only saved due to airbags.

If only one of the 4 was not drunk, this could have been averted. Goes to show that there is no safe car as long as the driver is not sane.

Default 180kmph Laura crash: 2 dead: India Gate, Delhi

Im suprised no one has posted this incident on the forum. If its been discussed, I apologize for reposting, I didn't find it:

Alcohol plus 180kmph claims two young lives in car crash-Cities-The Times of India

Two killed in car crash near India Gate, Delhi- Hindustan Times

and today...

Car racing led to mishap?-Delhi-Cities-The Times of India

My son was not driving: Skoda owner-Delhi-Cities-The Times of India

Essentially a Laura with four people, allegedly drunk, lost control at 180kmph early morning Sunday (I think) hit a garbage bin and turned turtle a couple of times. Two people, sitting in the back died. The driver and front passenger were saved by airbags. One of the papers said today the Laura had airbags in the back but they did not inflate and cops are checking why.

The India gate road from the Gate to the Rashtrapati bhavan is one single well laid out wide stretch (although with multiple intersections inbetween) but at the early hours, its usually deserted and a perfect spot for racing i.e. recipe for disaster.

No doubt this had to happen.

The Laura L&K comes with rear curtain bags. Don't think those would have helped the rear passengers. May their souls RIP.
