Default Hyderabad - Logan City Taxi - Meter Fraud

Post edited by the Team-BHP Support : Please do NOT use external picture hosts such as photobucket, imageshack etc. Your pictures have been reloaded via the Team-BHP Attachment system. We advise you to read our board rules carefully, before proceeding any further.

I went to HYD for some work.

This is my slip from Airport to Company and Company to Airport – same route!

Notice the price difference is huge. Also notice the taxi licence number is missing for the first cab.

This is EASY CABS – BEWARE !

Better to use MERU instead.

Last edited by GTO : 23rd July 2008 at 13:16. Reason: CITY CABS modified to EASY CABS since your bills show so. If it should be left as earlier please revert back with reason.

The whole thing is fake. Maybe the Cab it self was fake. Check the time, kms travelled, etc.

What's with the start time, end time & distance values in the receipt that's on the left side ?

Yes, electronic meters are very easily tamperable.

Like condor pointed, the timer/ dstance calc is faulty in the first one, and also look at the wait time, is it that "wait time x rate" adds to it.

Well you got taken for a ride during the return journey!
They charged you 554rs for just 36kms.
However the first ride was a true value for money
80000+kms for just 770rs.

Even this happened to me also in Bangalore and in same Easycab

From Airport to JP Nagar(My apartment) they charged me Rs 881.00 (Wait time was hardly 5 - 10 minutes).

My neighbour went from my apartment (JP Nagar) to Airport, he got charges for Rs. 612.00. More than 250 Rs. difference.

In in both case it was EasyCab in Bangalore too. However, I did not bother the bill as it was official trip and I submitted bill to office.

Better escalate to EASY CABS. Did you called 43434343 both times to book the cab? Or just picked one on the road side?
If you picked on the road then there is chances for some fake "easy cab". Either case, i feel this should be escalated to easy cab. but will be difficult to trace since it do not have the reg. no.

If you want to believe that, it is fine. It is probabaly 00041 though.

Anyway - All i know is that I paid more on my return trip to the Airport on the same toad - no waiting time - no nothing!

This is INR 200 difference. What will I tell my company when i submit this bill to the Payroll!

The reason i am sure this is fraud because, the first Taxi Driver, called up Second driver (during return trip) and told him not to Turn the meter on, and to charge me the same 775 - since it is same return journey. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?

I told him to turn it ON anyway while he already started driving. That is why there is a difference of 00041 and 00036.

Its best to have an idea of the kms. I know my apartment on bannerghatta road is approx 50 kms from Airport. At 15 rupees per km, if the bill is not in the vicinity of 750, i know i have been taken for a ride.
I dont think JP Nagar to airport is even 50 kms. Unless the driver took you on a Bangalore Darshan!

Not very clear from the picture as one shows the start km and another does not.

I want to hire that cab for eternity--that gave you the first ride. Looks like I'll cover 80K kms in 10 years, so that is real VFM.

Easy cabs is not a good provider. My wife also used it once and paid 630 from the airport to my residence, whereas she'd paid only 530 on the onward journey by Meru cabs. She again used Meru last week, and on both trips the meter reading was Rs 530/-.

From my home it is actually 44 - 46 Kms, when I landed up in Bangalore, I had no idea of Meru and EasyCab as I was out of India for more than 3 months. I boarded plane from HAL and landed in BIAL. At that time due to hype I was very sceptical about charges. Somebody was saying, oh you stay so far they will charge you 1200+, some other people say 1400+etc. Everybody was coming with their own figure.

You beleive or not, I was feeling happy when I paid Rs. 881.00 for Easycab (Some 400 bucks less than our estimation). It only became shock when I personally saw bill of my neighbour (He returned in BMTC Volvo Bus).

From now onwards I will take care.

Trust me .. I took a bus last time.. the drivers and the conductors have been brainwashed or trained for service.. they all behave very well.. . I took a bus from BIAL to Vijaynagar.. and cab guys saw me taking the bus.. and he was literally begging me to pay the same money as in the Volvo and he would take me to Vijayanagar. I refused.. It was a good experience.. and the leave on time and arrive on time.. Good to see some changes.

Even see the time on the 1st list.
Seems like the time of another planet with 50 plus hours a day.
