Chop a good car into halves. Holy cow, even in those days it was a relatively expensive car to own.

Coming to think of it atleast Maruti has not chopped their cars for advertisement purposes but just used the bodyshell of the swift. That seems an ok thing to do and yes so does Mitsubishi.

Edit: Couldn't they have done something like this in POP or a wooden mock-up. Sorry am ranting but it sure pains to see what used to be done.

There was another thread of a Jeep enthusiast, who put a Willy's cutout jutting out of his building!

Definitely an eye-catcher (and thus, purpose served).

I agree, great marketing gimmic.

Here in Jaipur a dhaba owner also did the same, he put a truck body on top of the roof. It did invite a lot of customers for him as it was something unique

Here is a pic a Conti cut in half and mounted above the entrance of his auto accessory shop in Pune. This Conti had strobes fitted in the headlights and underbody neons. Killer Stuff.

In the 80s (83 or 84) a group of restraunters chopped a NYC cab and used the front half as their decor in a NYC (village) restraunt.
