This one is really informative as i was being offered a vanagon engine, but a fellow friend here in this forum claimed that the vanagon never came in diesel,so my opinion changed,i listened to a diesal sound during some shows abroad, but the claim made me think twice and was under the doubt, so what do you suggest did all had the same transmission, clutch sets, flywheels and starters

the plans regarding the engine swap, are getting firm day by day, i am now planning to swap the engine ,with a diesel engine probably Toyota 2C or 3C, please suggest me links, tips etc for this conversion. The original Wasser boxer will be kept in safe along with the entire ECU and its wiring harness, i saw some conversion pictures,so please suggest me 2C or 3C as 2C is a small and will create less heat ,but may be very small for 1400 kg bus and the A/C, on the other hand 3C is a big engine and will easily pull the bus ,the A/C load, the power steering pump and a big 95 Amp original alternator.Any ideas about the clutch, pressure plate and the starter? should they be kept stock or changed, if i change them will i have to modify the input shaft?I am really sorry to fiddle with the originality, but frankly friends,Petrol is really expensive for long trips.i am sorry
