I remember an Indian who got so Fanatic that he went all the way to Australia - walked up to the Mod Team and said "I need a 9 sec car". And the guys did it.

Is this the same car ?

Good to see this brute back on the road!! Worked on by the boys at CRD Croydon Racing Developments / Performance Car Modifications and Tuning Specialist / Team CRD / Sydney Australia - One of the best in Australia. Check out their gallery for other Skyline builds.

@Racetech - Congrats on taking over this vehicle!! What octane fuel was used for the run?

@Sir alec - ATTESA (4WD system) is usually removed / disengaged on drag spec skylines..

cheers..

P.S. Did they actually shut down a part of Marine drive for this run???

We are using 116octane race fuel, yup a part of the road was shut down but this isn't marine drive

R32, is it for weight reduction, wherein some mechanical part is removed? I thought having AWD will give you greater traction, hence better times.

Weight reduction is one of them for sure but ATTESA can also be electronically disengaged if need be.
But most drag spec cars run on a "gasser" layout (fat rear and skinny fronts)
Launching on AWD / 4WD is quicker but once the vehicle is off the line.. laying down the power via the rear wheels is much more effective.

Racetech should be able to shed more light on this

@ Racetech

Can this car in its present form be used for longer drives? say a 100 kms journey on normal fuel?

The tires would need to be swapped out to something that can handle street driving. Then a different tune would need to be created or loaded if it exists for the different fuel. After that, the 6k rpm stall makes this car not very street friendly. With all that, it could be taken around the city a bit, but it isn't going to be very user friendly the way it's all setup. It's a drag car plain and simple.

Would love to see a video of the two, pitted each other, belting down the Nice Road-corridor sometime. If only wishes were horses.. Sigh!

Thanks for sharing!

OT:

This is the 9 second car you're talking about.

The pearlescent-purple Skyline R34 GTR in Bangalore is the one that was sent to Australia for a complete do-over. It's back with two massive turbochargers that ensure that the hood can't be closed, crazy interiors with dials and meters and bucket-seats, and a lovely coat of street-tuner purple paint. It has never been 'officially' spotted/snapped by anyone and never will be, in all probability. Sad.

But it can pull-off 9 second times with the right driver behind the wheel.

This question may seem silly to all the pros over here What kind of gearbox have you guys used in the car, sequential manual or Automatic ?
Operating a sequential manual in this 1000bhp beast would be quite a handful.

What a waste of such a car. Why would anyone wanna do such a thing after modifying it to such an extent? But must say "that guy" defenitely has some taste, though he doesnt uses any of it.
