This is one car I was really waiting to see launched here. I'm glad they've launched it and that too I don't think its a bad price. Its less than what was speculated. The E63 is priced similarly and the XFR is a bit cheaper, but then the M5 has history. I can't wait to see one in blue on the roads.

Anyone know how much the E60 M5 V10 used to cost in India? Was there even any official price tag on it?

It was just over a crore on the road if I'm not mistaken. A little less or just around the same as the new one.

Whistle whistle*

Finally she is here ! What a machine.
Would still say that face looks too tame for an M5 but what the heck, look at that performance !
IMO her biggest rival would be her past a.k.a E60 M5.
Sure this 1 is more efficient, powerful has more aids and is technically more sound but while that could make the car an over all safer/better place to be in, i just hope it does not take that 1 crucial quality away from her which has been the very essence of the M5....FUN !!
As opposed to the E60's NA v10 ,this 1 is turbocharged which means some amount of lag , albeit marginal.
Am also interested in seeing if the handling of the f10 M5 matches up to her predecessor.
All this until the new RS 6 comes in.

Yay, Finally its here ! Eagerly awaiting to see one on our roads ! What a car, a true sleeper ! Its being offered in 7 Different shades of Metallic colours, wish there was a frozen black edition as well !

Read quite a few F10 M5 ownership threads elsewhere, from what I could make up from those writeups is that the torque arrives as early as 1500RPM, the power increase remains almost upto the red line at 7200RPM, as good as a naturally aspirated engine.
Sound remains light while driving lightly with the M Mode turned off, but all hell breaks loose when its turned on and the throttle gets opened !
Handling remains more or less the same as the legendary E60 M5, despite having a high kerb weight of roughly about 2000kgs !
Ride quality is top notch, some people have even compared it to the smoothness of the 750li !
This is one of those few cars where you could hit the track straight from your office, while in your suits and head back home comfortably at the same time !

Good pricing, I must say. The E60 M5 was priced over a crore!(but it had the 'looks' to justify its price tag!)

Went to Infinity this morning, the OTR cost Mumbai is 1.35cr. They have no stock or display car as of now. The earliest they can deliver is June which is 6 months for now. The display car from Auto Expo is also not available for delivery.

When launching such products BMW needs to make sure there are atleast 1-2 preconfigured cars in stock for delivery. Due to the wait my friend has dropped the M plan and will be looking at an AMG.

When spending so much not too many people want a preconfigured product. I mean a car like an M5 only an enthusiast would buy, and they would want to do customize it exactly the way they want. I don't think too many cars are available for delivery immediately after launch, though 6 months is a bit long. If he goes for an E or C63 then its his loss to be honest

@Akshay: Most of the M and AMG cars in India come almost fully loaded. So it really wouldnt hurt having safe colour combos pre configured and in stock. Maybe a white and black. Im sure most owners would want the car specd exactly as per their preference. But there a lot of people who just want the car on the spot and would settle for a safe colour if it was in stock (black, white, blue).

I saw this first hand today, we went with the intention of buying a M5, was told that there is no way we can get a car before june, we even offered to buy the display car from the expo but that was also not possible. He just dropped the idea of buying one after hearing about the delivery time frame.

We then went to mercedes, Same story there, test drove the C63, absolutely loved it, offered to buy it on the spot, AH has no cars in stock, same with Shaman, delivery will take 6 months. So now the C63 is also out. next on the list is the E63 with the 5.5ltr biturbo, they didnt have a test car so that decision will be taken this week.

IMHO you will be suprised how good the AMG cars are, I would definately pick the C over the M3, but the M5 just blows the competition away. Not everyone wants to track their cars and go around corners quickly. Plus you will need a real good driver to get the 2 extra secs out of the M3 on a track.
