LCs tackle the desert - H5 doesnt.

Dunno where you are mate, but out here anyone with a half-decent SUV would try to. The operative word being 'try' because other than the LCs, only the Patrols, the venerable G Wagon, the Chevy Tahoe Z71s, the LR Defenders and older Discovery, the H2 and the H3 Alpha (not the regular ones) are the only ones that make the cut. Everything else has to be towed at some point or the other - the only recovery truck trusted is the LC.

1. H1s were never grandmasters of the desert.

2. H2s are definitely good in the desert except when they get stuck in a trough. The ONLY vehicle that call pull out of a trough with steep slopes on all sides is the LC.

firstly i was refering to the landcruiser being able to tackle the roads and the deserts not the X5.
secondly there were very few SUV's that could tackle the desert and this is the feed back i got from my friends in dubai who are hardcore desert freeks some have had their cars stuck too. there would be a handfull of people who storm the deserts with their SUV'S. i agree the only car to bail them out is the landcruiser.
thirdly before the landcruiser came into the picture the only other car to be driven in the deserts were the H1's. n thats why i believe they are the original grand masters of the desert.

JC had a show on TopGear where he compared the off-road capabalities of H2 and Cayenne. H2 was no match for Cayenne.

mayavi the video shows the off road capabilities of only the porsche cayenne turbo and not of the hummer H2. both cars have been shown on a dirt track and offcourse if you compare a cayenne turbo against the H2 the cayenne turbo is much faster.

i would love it if BMW india would bring in more options for their cars just like you get them abroad. wider variety of wheels is the first thing they should get especially for the 3/5/6 series.

there ain't nothing great about the 650i other than the brand logo. there are far better cars for the same amount of money.
