Gwagen also known as the G was designed by MB and hand built in Austria since it's conception in the 70s.i was supposed to be used for UN but UN went with land rover defender and toyota land cruiser and almost entire line was taken by then late Shah of Iran for his militiary.It was very popular with the eastern block former Soviet Union generals also.It was introuced by a wealthy car sales dealer in Sante FE,New Mexico ,USA.He bought few of them and had to go thru crash testing and got them cleared for sale in USA.He was selling all three gasoline version short wheel base known as 3 door, LWB ,the 5 door and the cabriolet an open top/rag top version of the 3 doorfora hefty price of US 135000 a piece.Sold a lot to celebrities and some wealthy clients He had arranged with MBUSa to do the serviceing for his cars thru MB dealer net work ,but in 2000 ansd 2001 MbB decided to introduce this suv as their product changed the name to G 500 and introduced to US and North america market It was first introduced at New york auto show in 2001 and and later is all history the g500 was priced at US $82000.now the 2010 g500 goes for about 100k and g55 about 20k more Her is the picture of my SUv for your viewing pleasure You can view more on my garage folder My g500 was bought new in oct 2002 for $ 89000. including sales tax it came with all the options available at that time like heated steering wheel ,hand free clalling ,multi-contour driver's seat and rear park sensor
