for a sports car these figures are highly efficent i would say.
City driving is what reminds me. Were you around Bandra last night ? If yes then spotted you.

Do try and use atleast 91 octane speed fuel. Because even with 91 my car's engine knocks.
Take care mate!
BMW's do not need 93 or 97 specifically. They work well with 91 also.

I'm sure they work just fine with 91 but I doubt they will deliver the power they are suppose to, as stated? This car def wont hit 100km/hr in 5.1 seconds running on 91 octane

+ 1 Sahil

They run as smooth as ever but performance goes way south.

For instance, all autocar india tests are run on 91 RON fuel. The 325i test gave a figure of 9 seconds to hundred, while the IDENTICAL engine in UK running on 97 RON cracks the ton in 7.XX seconds. And in this months autocar, the 330i tested hit 100 in 8.1 seconds, when 6.7 is what it should post.

Yes very true, but if you compare with Porsche, they have been asked specifically to run on 97 only which can be a hindrance. I guess there was some concern a month back when there was a shortage of 97 octane and Porsche had to import some additives for their cars.

I have some Questions about fuel.

Is the regular vs Speed / Power any different in terms of performance - that is is the speed / power fuel any higher in terms of octane when compared to regular fuel? What i read at many places is that speed / power fuels just add some engine cleaning aditives and nothing else.

And is there any thread on updated list of petrol pumps in Mumbai that sell the 97 octane fuel.

You should try bangalore. it is way more than what you probably might have had to pay for it in Mumbai. Nice pics. Please post more pics. Cheers

@suvm: you should be able to make out the difference in engine noise if you use the 3 different fuels, the 97 the engine feels smooth and there is absolutely no engine noise, cant say the same for the lower octanes. it is also better if you use speed/power only after using 97 throughout i.e. if 97 is not available.

Speed/Power/IOC premium is just regular fuel (91 RON) with some additives.

the diff between using 97 and 91 is noticeable...

EDIT

Never use octane boosters though. Its alright to fill 91 in an emergency, but not octane boosters.

Nice ride you got there suvm. You have an awesome combination! Any future plans for mods?

P.S. - You know, lately I've been surfing on some BMW forums and seeing the gatherings/meet-ups they have. We should try and organise a BMW meet up in Mumbai sometime. We have a lot of members with Beemers who I'm sure would like such an idea. Just a thought.

Suvm was just wondering if you were on the expressway today heading towards pune?. If yes then the car was looking real sweet under the hot sun and before i overtook it (approaching the car) i was really wondering if it was the z4 or some other sports car (in the good sense).
