Default Ducati 795

Folks,
Not sure how many are aware that Ducati is planning to launch a toned down version of their Monster 796 to make it more appealing for the ASIAN markets. (includes India as well) thought would post this thread to check if any body else has any more dope on this. Was able to dig and get 2 links which will shed more light around this. Apparently Ducati has mentioned that they have a scheduled launch at 1030 PM IST, 20/10/2011.

The main thing what i could infer was the engine which is a 795 instead of a 796 and which would produce much less power. One of the cost cutting features is that the bike will sport a double sided swing arm instead of the gorgeous single sided swing arm on the 796.
Rumored to cost around the 6 lacs bracket!!!

Please note that both the Monster 795 and 796 has an 803cc engine, thereby qualifying for import to India.

The output is identical for both bikes.

Google is your friend. use it.

Cheers.

Ride Safe.

Oops!!My bad. Thanks for correction.I was indeed wrong with the engine configuration but one of the websites had quoted that it would produce less power than the 796,so posted that info!!

Am told by the dealer that this would produce slightly lesser power figures than the 796, something similar to 696.

While its a great move, I don't see it coming soon to India. Atleast not when they have a proper dealership network. Customers are struggling to even get the available (launched) bikes this year.

.
Jay,
Am skeptical to what your dealer has quoted, cause the websites show no differences between the two especially on engine part. Both of them belt out 87 hp@ 8250 RPM & delivers a torque of 8 kgm or 78 NM @ 6250 RPM. (Apologies am unable to capture a proper screen shot from the websites, however this data is coming off from Ducati website)

The only 3 differences that are noticeable as of now
1) Double Sided Swingarm on 795 compared to single sided of 796 (single side looks great, but again my view)
2) Three Spoke Alloy Wheels on 795 compared to the extravagant looking alloy wheel on 796 (796 alloy wheel definitively has class compared to 795)
3) Seat height reduced in by an inch to 30.5 in the 795 compared to 31.5 that of 796 (considering the average Asian height varies from 5.5 to 5.7, 795 would make sense)

The other point that we can consider is, this bike is being manufactured in thailand so that would mean cheaper labor rates for which the benefit is being passed on to customers directly. Guess this makes quite a lot of business sense as well for them to sell these in India.
Regarding the present situation, they are only temporary phases which any start up company will undergo when they set up operations. Probably their pre-study was poor

Good way to go however all depends on the price and how quickly it will be launched.
Will it eat into the 796 market?? That's something to debate around with some time thrown in

One more addition to the changes is the tire size of both front and back.

Front: 120/70 to 120/60
Back: 180/55 to 160/60

Just spoke to Ducati Mumbai and the launch is not speculative, it will be available for booking in January. No specs or price lists have been disclosed

If it is affordable I am gonna have to halt my Iron 883 plans

Looks like a M796 running on M696 wheels!

All the mechanicals (read:heart, poweroutput, exhausts and even sprocketing) is ditto M796!
The only M696 similarities being the Double sided swing-arm and 3-spoked alloys and tire size.

The best part being you still get the 'Monster Art' as an option, don't know if it's available in India though.

Looks like a win-win to me as far as the product is concerned!
Just hope that they expand their dealer network, quick!

The 'simultaneous launch' is on December 10. Here's the link: Ducati

Why don't they make inline-four cylinder bikes? Two cylinders are sooo boring.
