| It was not just the Vespa which the Piaggio stall had showcased. At the 2012 Auto Expo, Piaggio displayed the Aprilia and Moto Guzzi motorcycles too. Aprilia RSV4

| BHPian | What is it with those Italians? How come they get to design dreams, where no body else even comes close? Beautiful bikes, I'd love to see on sale in India, and if the economy allows, even own one. My heart's set on the 1200GT, notwithstanding the lesser BHP. |

| Team-BHP Support ![]() | These Italian bikes are works of art. But coming to the Aprilia i was hoping for a much more radical or "arty" design. Looks very similar to the older generation Honda's IMO. Nevertheless, a style statement since there aren't many RSV4s around. |

| Every designer in the world should make a once-in-a-life pilgrimage to Italy. It's the Mecca-Haridwar-Jerusalem of design. Just love the way these bikes look. And given that they come from such respected stables like Aprilia and Moto Guzzi, they surely would set the roads on fire too. Any plans of Piaggio launching any of these marques in the near future? I somehow have a very soft corner for Piaggio as they have some awesome brands under their umbrella. (Aprilia, Vespa, Derbi, Gilera, Piaggio, Ligier, Scarabeo and Moto Guzzi) Vespa is here, again, so maybe they'll test the waters and might be tempted to launch these vehicles, if the market is ready to accept them. But nobody even knows about it. Also I heard from a source that the number of bikes sold is still in single digit and one of which is the dealers bike itself. Wish that they set up dealerships in Bangalore / Mumbai / Delhi or the likes and sell a few more. | |

| Things are getting better for motorcycle enthusiasts in India. The latest news is that Piaggio is bringing the Moto Guzzi brand to India. Saw this post on the autocarindia website. Quote "Aprilia’s second Indian dealership (after Pune), Northward Motors Pvt ltd has just opened up in Gurgaon. The showroom is already functional, with bookings being accepted, while a service centre is currently under construction located close to the dealership and expected to go operational within a month. Parent company Piaggio is sharing its Aprilia brand’s showroom space with Moto Guzzi motorcycles, making Northward Motors India’s first Moto Guzzi dealership. Bookings are presently ongoing for the 110bhp, Griso 1200 8V model that is powered by a four-stroke, V-twin, 1151cc, six-speed engine. Motorcycle deliveries will commence in 2013, with the remaining line-up of Moto Guzzi motorcycles still to be defined and made available in 2013." Unquote. It would be interesting to see how Piaggio prices the Moto Guzzi machines. Even better still if piaggio considers CKD assemblies in India! that would be a mouthwatering prospect ![]() Eagerly waiting to see those stunning Italian beauties with their oh so beautiful transverse mounted engines here ![]() |
