Default Benelli unveils BN251 at 2014 EICMA

Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli has unveiled the BN251 at the EICMA show in Milan. The BN251 sports a naked street fighter look and is the smallest bike from the company.

The BN251 has a trellis frame with an inverted fork suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The bike is 2080 mm long, 805 mm wide and 1090 mm high with a wheelbase of 1385 mm and a ground clearance of 130 mm. The seat height of the bike is 780 mm while the fuel tank has a capacity of 16.5 litres. The BN251 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 110/70-ZR17 and 140/60-ZR17 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. Other features include digital-analogue instrumentation and a side-mounted single exhaust.

Powering the motorcycle, is a 249 cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, fuel-injected petrol engine that puts out 24.2 bhp @ 9000 rpm and 21 Nm of torque @ 7000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox. 280 mm and 240 mm single discs at the front and rear provide stopping power for the bike.

With the BN251, Benelli will look to target the popular KTM Duke 200. It is expected be the company's most affordable motorcycle.

Spec's look good with ample power and torque figures. This looks a lot like the FZ and if DSK does get it down to our shores, they should price it right if they want to sell it in decent numbers.

Considering it's not a twin, I expect the pricing to be competitive. Let's wait and watch.

Thanks for sharing, Aditya.

Man - this bike looks good. Seats 'look' comfortable for rider and pillion. If priced well, this should sell in good numbers. Being a single, I think they can price it competitively and can be looked as a viable alternative to the Duke 200.

16.5 liter tank. That's the first thing that popped out at me. That and the seat will make this the go-to bike for the Duke 200 consideration set crowd who want to tour, especially with a pillion, in comfort. The extra torque from the larger motor over the Duke 200 would also help.

Me likey!

Looks like a proper sized bike. Will be great for commuting and touring alike. Hope the pillion seat is not an afterthought.

If I were to guess, the corp boys at Hyosung will be looking to price this around the Duke 390, not 200. Would love to be proved wrong though.

Question - Is 130 mm ground clearance par for the course? The 390 IIRC has a clearance of 170 mm.
