I agree with you on the suspension, they are usually harder than others but when it comes to riding stance I found Superlow perfect for my body. It allows me to sit up straight without tiring my arms; this might vary from person to person though. Others might be better but within HD stable, Superlow was definately the most back friendly ride. And yes you are absolutely right about the forward controls, the reason I mentioned them in my thread was for taller riders who might feel a bit cramped. PS: HD guys were indeed trying to push forward control down my throat.

Thanks buddy, wrt fuel gauge, it atleast comes with a reserve warning light
Rode friend's Street Bob with forward controls and foot board last day. Among the most comfortable rides I have done. Thought foot board is just another flat board, it is not. It had vibration isolation inserts in it! Do check out if you can next time you see one.

Congratulations! Nice write up

Glad that you have invested in a decent set of protective wear

From one rider to another, my only advice to you is to chuck that half helmet immediately. Even for the pillion, get a proper full face helmet. Use this helmet for short "grocery shopping" type trips and retire it from mainstream duty ASAP

You dont want that skull graphic to be a thing of reality

Ride safe

Thanks bro. Will be getting my helmet soon, before i get back to Delhi for sure.

This reminds me the helmet dilemma I've been facing and thought maybe bhpians can help me out here. Right now I've zeroed in the following two helmets (both MT, feel them to be well qualified and bang for the buck)

1. MT OPTIMUS Solid Nero
Name: MT nero.jpg
Views: 2056
Size: 112.5 KB
Modular Flip Up with dual certification ECE R22.05 and DOT
Imported by SPG, can buy it online from them as well as the local authorized re-seller here in Hyd (surprisingly no re-seller is there up North)
5.5-6k approx

2. MT Revenge
Name: mt_revengesolidblack.jpg
Views: 2174
Size: 58.2 KB
Dual Certified - ECE R-22.05 & DOT
UK Govt SHARP Rating - 5 Stars
5.5-6k approx

The dilemma - since the cost and the brand is the same I cant decide which one to get - Optimus (for being modular) or Revenge (for the added Sharp 5 rating)?

The modular flip up gives you great flexibility in the real world, especially if you have you stop and ask for directions, a quick roadside tea etc: However there is a tendency to ride with the helmet flipped up more often that not which makes it in essence a half face helmet and thus less safe.

The full face is more cumbersome in the real world but you are ensuring maximum safety all the time. For me, the Revenge with the SHARP rating is an easy choice but to each his own. Either way, remember to get yourself an extra visor or two when you buy the helmet to ensure peace of mind.

Forget the flip up helmet it is just not as safe as the one with a fixed chin. Infact it maybe just about the same as an open face helmet in terms of safety. Just provides wind protection.

Hey congrats on the harley

On the topic of helmet , i recently purchased the revenge ( though in the white-blue-red combo and not matte black ) and extensively used an open face(With visor ) so I can suggest a few things .

1. MT revenge -
Solid helmet , no flaws observed and like everything about it . I won't go into the details , if you wish any specific regarding the helmet however , I will gladly reply .
However to an extent it cannot be used in every kind of situation , now this just me guessing because weather is cold here now but I expect this lid to be a botheration for those slow speed/short 2-3 km commute for bread and egg during summer . Also I doubt you can stand more than 5 min inside it if you are unlucky enough to be caught in crawling traffic during hot weather (as is the case for significant duration at Delhi ). I however have a decent half face so no biggie , for those specific unpleasant situation , you might feel the need for another .

The other day I waited 10mins in line to fill petrol , it was not uncomfortable but if the outside temp was 40cel , I would have boiled inside . This is just a real world scenario you can find yourself in .

2. The flip up .

It is the all rounder , caught in traffic ? flip up . Riding slowly ? flip up. Drink water ? flip up. Speak to someone ? flip up . Sure it is relatively less safe but so is riding a motorcycle , don't know about you but I simply cannot concentrate if I am sweating inside . If you purchase the revenge , you don't lose out on anything at all but it will be in your interest ( I have extensively experienced both Delhi traffic and summer) to have a more comfortable option . Once you hit the open roads , wind resistance alone will force you to flip down so need not worry about being lazy and un safe even at high speeds . Again I repeat the safety aspect ( a data chart visualized 37% injury to the chin area ) but comfort or lack off can be a bigger hindrance . The downside to the flip up is it is not a specific/focused helmet like the revenge is . And the Sharp rating .

If your heart is on the revenge , do not even think about it and get the revenge . You can always purchase a flip up later If you are tending towards the flip up from get go , then go for it . I may come off strongly in favor of the flip up but that is down to the revenge in its way being a perfect helmet at the price . The revenge is what it is , it needs no justification to sell , the flip up does . I personally considered the flip up but decided against it because of my half face helmet and summer is a good 6 months away .

Pending gear:

Helmet - most likely MT Axxiss mat black (value for money), others on the list are KBC and Shark(unlikely though).

Congratulations Abhimanyu on your new ride!! By the way I am the reverse flash of your version. I am from Hyd. but working/living in Gurgaon presently.

Hey can you please let me know where I can buy the MT Axxiss helmet in Delhi Karol Bagh or anyplace near Gurgaon/Delhi NCR. Is it available @ Chopra Automobiles. I recently got an RE 350 and planning to buy a good helmet. Thanks!

Exactly my dilemma however I'm quite inclined towards the revenge now.

Thanks bro. I completely agree with the practicality regarding the flip up. During my college riding days I had a flip (studds) and a solid one (bieffe) which was hot at times but manageable. I guess I'll need the peace of mind when it comes to safety. I'm planning to go to the dealer today and try out both, the revenge and the optimus to decide.

Since you already own it, i have couple of questions:
- since there is no internal visor how comfortable is to wear sunglasses?
- How is the overall ventilation with the visors down?
- Whats all the fuss with the NFC/GPS tech it has?

I remember him telling me that he does have MT, however there are no authorized re-sellers for MT in north India. Maybe you can try it out for the size and order it through SPG or other resellers. Best would be to call them (Chopra) before visiting KB.

1. I wear prescription glasses .Right now the helmet is very tight especially around the cheeks . I can wear the glasses but they are not settling properly around my nose because the stems are tightly clamped by the side of my head . This is not creating any visibility issues but quite annoying . The lid is just 5 days old though so in a month's time , I expect it to bed in comfortably . You will have to remove glasses while putting on or before taking off the helmet .

2. Vents - there are 2 sets on front and 2 on back . Both set on front and the upper one on rear can be closed by means of a slider mechanism .

Ventilation in normal dry condition with all vents open is very good . It is comfortable in there with good airflow . Fog builds up if you are stopped dead though but cleans out within 3-5 second of movement .

yesterday it rained here (I rode both in and after the rain ) . I had by mistake closed both set of vents at front as well as the rear one at back . There was considerably fog build up below 30kmph speed . During the return journey , the chin vent up front was opened (meaning one set up front and rear remained closed ) and there was negligible fog build up even at 20kmph speed .

3. NFC tech - there is a NFC chip embedded around the chin area . An Android only (no IOS or WP8 , I use WP8 so not tried ) phone can be configured by the means of an app to send SMS alert and your GPS co-ordinates to numbers you have saved if you bring the phone near to the chin and hold it there for a few seconds(there is a 10sec countdown to avoid mistakes ) . A cool feature but not that useful . It is not a major selling point , I personally was not aware of it until I received the helmet . Say you decide on optimus or another helmet and find the lid doesn't supports this , it should make no difference .

Thanks for the reply guys but it seems there is a shortage of Revenge at the moment. The local dealers here don’t have it and Moto101 and Spartan are yet to get back to me regarding an 'L' sized Black/grey Revenge.

In the meanwhile, 1st service and basic installations (contd.)

My brother was in town and helped the scorpion to reach close to 700 before getting it serviced. I'd left it at 450, and the month's up and it'll still be 10 days till i reach home. Good that he was there to get all the work done for me

Pending Installations:
  • Rear Foot mounts
  • Fuel cap (HD Shull theme, same as the derby cover, wasnt in stock at the time of purchase)
  • Pillion Seat
  • Chopper styled Chrome Sissy Bar with backrest

My Black Scorpion as of now
Black Scorpion comes home - My 2015 Harley Davidson Superlow-img_1109.jpg

The 1st service (1600kms or 1 month) - No special instructions for them apart from the clutch and gear shifts (which is hard anyways).

Another meteor in the pocket - installations and service bill totalled 50k. I think I'm done for a year. Next on the list are :

• Progressive suspensions
• Exhausts – Want the Shortshots Staggered Exhaust by V&H but warranty issue lingers over my head. Otherwise, SE slip-ons.

Great going buddy! The sissy bar and rear seat have changed the SuperLow looks for the better. If not too much to ask, can you please put down the price for the individual components? Any long ride planned for the end of the year?

After reading lot about it and everyone’s advice to go for a non-modular solid helmet, I decided on the MT Revenge to find out that it was out of stock till early next year. Checked with Spartan, Moto101 and didn’t get my size (L).

However I got my MT Revenge from the most unexpected place, the bike shop near my place, “Dynamic Ryders” here in Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad. Size L as per the chart and fitting, little tight on my cheeks, but I’ve been told it’ll be fine with regular usage.

One thing that I miss the most is the internal sun visor, that’s why I’ve ordered the smoke visor from Moto101 Pune.

Here it is in its full glory: MT Revenge Limited Evo – Black White Grey
